Very carefully rub the tips with some very fine abrasive paper such as 1200 grade wet or dry sand paper. This has been a success for me on other B&O equipment such as a CDX & Beocenter 8500 which had this exact problem. I've never owned a Beomaster 4500 but I would strongly suspect that it works on the exact same principle.

Chris.

EDIT:- I bow to Francoisvl on this one as he got there first & obviously knows his way around these better than my humble self

Re: Beomaster 4500

Probably the sensors are not making contact properly with the glass. There is a square on the underside of the glass where the sensor must be against for it to work. Often when the glass becomes a bit loose or not fitted properly the sensors won't work. So if your sensor isn't touching the square there is no contact, Also note because the glass slides onto the PC board the sensors bend which is normal. They mustn't be straight up.

I hope this helps.

Re: Beomaster 4500

Piaf:

I just acquired a Beomaster 4500 and the sound that it produces is truly outstanding.

Perhaps I am doing something wrong, but when attempting to program the FM stations I have to push on the Beomaster with all my might to get it to respond…. and then when it does, more often than not it is for the next station.

Frustrating!

Thank goodness I didn’t sell my remarkable Beomaster 2400 which is beyond perfection!

Am I missing something here?

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

My 4500 is immaculate, looks superb and produces great sound, however some time ago the touch controls for station tuning stopped responding. As the other response has mentioned, FM tuning can be achieved via the Beo 1000 control, however it doesn't work via my Beo4! If I want to tune stations therefore I have to remove the black glass cover from the unit and touch the controls below. As station tuning is not a frequent need for me this is no problem, just a bit frustrating .

Re: Beomaster 4500

FYI:

You can use a Beolink 1000: To tune a station press RADIO GOTO 1045, which will give you the station on 104.5 MHz.

Beomaster 4500

I just acquired a Beomaster 4500 and the sound that it produces is truly outstanding.

Perhaps I am doing something wrong, but when attempting to program the FM stations I have to push on the Beomaster with all my might to get it to respond…. and then when it does, more often than not it is for the next station.

Frustrating!

Thank goodness I didn’t sell my remarkable Beomaster 2400 which is beyond perfection!

Am I missing something here?

Jeff
