When you *force* the TV to fit the picture to 16:9 it adds the black bars.

And to think channels like FX still broadcast in 4:3...

JoC

Re: Problems with Sky on a BeoVision 7-40 Mark II

Thanks for all comments. Your suggestion has worked well. However, although the logo (in Format 3) now fits the screen, the new format shows missing space at the top and the bottom of the screen like widescreen, which is still not what I wanted. I want the picture to use up the whole screen, but for the logo to be in the correct position. Has the TV been setup incorrectly by the engineers? Surely this can't be normal.

Simon.

Re: Problems with Sky on a BeoVision 7-40 Mark II

Yup, same setup here, and same problem... To solve this, on the Beo4 press the 'List' button until the display says 'Format' then press 1, 2 or 3 to change the format of the screen. 3 (I think) forces the screen to 16:9

JoC

Re: Problems with Sky on a BeoVision 7-40 Mark II

Strange, it's fine on my BV7. I assumed that the television automatically callibrates (if this is the correct terminology) the screen to the correct size/dimensions of the signal being broadcast/received. The picture is great but the logo that appears on the top left of the screen is half way off, it needs to be moved (or recallibrated) about 3-5 inches down. Horizontally it seems OK. I notice that my mother has exactly the same problem on an Avant 32 RF/DVD which I bought for her a few months ago. Is there anything that can be done in the menus to change this as I do find it very distracting and annoying after a while. You start to feel that the picture is not being displayed properly and indeed it isn't! I really want to resolve this so all help gratefully received. Thanks.

Simon.
