You could maybe even push for BeoLab 9s, if you have the cash/the girlfriend agrees. All sound pretty different, so you should always listen to the speakers properly before buying them.

As much as I love my new BeoLab 4s, I can't recommend them as an alternative to BeoLab 5000s! The 4000s are a much more sensible choice if you're using them as main speakers.

Re: BL5000's must go! It's a shame you don't like them since there are arguably B&O's most famous long standing speaker ever. I have never met anyone before that didn't like them so this is a definite first for me. Anyway, since we have to consider others I would say the 4000s are certainly up there but not the 6000s. Neither the 4. How about the 3500? I love this speaker and wonder if it would fit the bill depending on how you want to use it? The 3s are amazing too but as you say they are out of your price range. If you really can't go with the 8000s which are by far the most obvious and best suited choice then I would take the 4000s without hesitation.

Best of luck, keep us informed.

Simon.

Re: BL5000's must go!
