Hmmm... maybe I should buy one. I was going to get a KEF or B&W because the BL2 is sort of overpriced but then I would have the problem of not being able to filter...

How would it work if you have a BV7 mk3 and everything is plugged into the TV? Would the system automatically do the filtering?

There is, the 'OUT' connection has a (very effective) filter...

I thought it didn't filter anything out (as in, there's no active crossover that will cut the low end from the BL6000s).

Thanks for the advice guys. I think I'll have to get a demo at my home to see what effects it has. As my set up is only 2 Beolab 6000, and I'll mostly be listening to music CDs. I guess the main thing I want out of the Beolab 2 is not really a heavy bass but to filter out the low frequency so the vocals would sound crisper on the 6000s.

I'll let you know what the results are when I get to test it.

Very sensible advice! Always listen for yourself and preferably in a case like this in your own house. This is an expensive buying decision and a dealer should be helpful.

I do remember listening to an audio visual presentation at the Palazzo Grassi (I think!) in Venice at the time of the Egyptian exhibition there. This was in a large room and the 4 main speakers were Beolab 6000s. The sound was mindblowing and there must have been a sub-woofer though I couldn't see it! So 6000s in the right conditions can be really rather good!

I used to have 4 lab 6000 in a suround setup and did after a while add the BL2 and the sounddifference was huge. As you very correctly write, the 6000 arent very good at handling the low frequencies and with the lab 2 attached it can concentrate on the higher ones.

However, there is a huge difference in the way the Bl2 adds to your audiosetup. In a surround setup it really improved the experience a lot IMO, but when listening in speaker 2 mode, the sub sometimes has som trouble keeping up with faster beats.

So because of your audiosetup, the succes really depends on your musicprefference. It will add value, but if it is enough value for the money i just dont think so. My advice would be for you to go to your dealer and ask for a demo. In this, make sure the Lab2 are configured the right way. Furthermore ask for a demo of different music.

Hi everybody,

I've got a pair of Beolab 6000 attached to Beocenter 2 (yes, I know the Beolab 6000 is not good enough for home cinemas but my wallet can only stretch so far)... and I'm interested to know the effect of a Beolab 2 subwoofer on the sound quality of Beolab 6000.

I heard the massive difference it made when the Beolab 2 was added to my friend's Beolab 3, and when it was excluded. The inclusion of the subwoofer have made the vocals much crisper and slightly more powerful on the Beolab 3, I guess it has to do with the subwoofer filtering out the low frequency range so the Beolab 3 could concentrate on producing the mid-high range frequencies.

Has anyone tried coupling the Beolab 2 with a paif of Beolab 6000 and see a massive improvement in vocals as well? Sounds like the Beolab 2 would be a great investment if it does as I think apart from the weakness in bass, the Beolab 6000 aren't clear enough in producing vocals as well, so would be awesome if I could improve that situation.
