What is the real market for Serenata I wonder. I still don't really get the phone. It's a phone that is more like a I dunno... Personally I think the concept is a bit off. I will much prefer If B&O produces a cellphone that is like their cordless phones, with buttons and all. What about producing a phone that emits the lowest radiation and just plain good reception and sound quality? That will totally be a phone I will buy.

Your points are absolutely correct, owning Serenata is not just having a phone, but a statement, or showing off a lifestyle. I love it so much.

There are several real worlds. Although I can't buy the Serenata because I live in the US, I have been reading all the reviews and comments. When the Serene became available, I booked a flight to Paris and ordered the Serene even though there would be some problems using it in the US. I have an iPhone now and the Serene is the standby phone.

To those who asked if the Serenata is Mac friendly, it is not. You can export MP3 music from iTunes to be played on the Seranata but not the DRM protected songs. That is changing because many EMI songs on iTunes are not DRM protected. The contacts file on a Mac have to be copied manually. The is also true on a Serene but is manageable. Texting on a Serene and a Seranata is a painful experience. Texting can be done but it is not easy. I noticed on the Serenata, that dialing a number is cumbersome. It is true most numbers are dialed from the contacts list but not always.

Do I like the Serenata? Yes because that B&O person inside me thinks the design is great and the sound is wonderful. I am still going to Paris soon and will longingly look at the Serenata. However I think this time I will resist buying the Serenata.

To those who are contemplating an iPhone or the latest Nokia phone and trying to compare them to a Serenata remember they are all very different. Serenata is an affair of the heart! Hence the name.........it sings to your inner you. (This is somewhat silly but I think it is true of most B&O products.)

Thanks for the thorough review, although my partner is less impressed since my desire to buy this handset has skyrocketed! I just hope Australia gets this one more hastily than the Serene.

Interesting point, the girl asked TBS if we could expect more from this collaboration (B&O + Samsung)
TBS intimated there could be "one every second year" Hmm.

This is the girl i sat next to at the evening meal! Her photographer/cameraman had an iPhone, but was very embarassed and careful not to show it off until i prized it out of his hands!

What a wonderful telephone! But ... how compatible is it with Mac?

Music <> iTunes. Does this work and what about DRM-protected tunes? ...

Calendar <> iCal. I know it's built for Outlook but that doesn't help much.

I am strongly considering this phone instead of an iPhone ... but do I dare?

Are the limitations as a PDA too severe? I need to write down some notes, and

put some limited text in the calender ... and I need synchronization!!

Hello Chris,

I live in Eastbourne, England, which is locally known as "The Sunshine Coast", which is English for "only rains 364 days per year".

Seriously, though, our micro-climate couldn't be more boring if it tried, and it is neither cold enough or warm enough for me to answer your query!

I would imagine if you left Serenata in the sun it could get fairly warm, but you could counteract that with the carry bag, or a leather case (when they become available).

You could of course just pop the speaker out and use that instead!

As for the touch-screen issue, the whole screen is only around 1.5inches tall, so there is not enough room to fit a full keyboard in. I sent my last text on the phone this morning though, and found that, surprisingly, I could spank one out in pretty much the same time as I can on my Nokia!

Hi & thanks for this second review, which brings even more "practical" everyday information about what one can (or can't!) do with Serenata.

The texting issue is my biggest concern, I still wonder why on earth couldn' t they make the whole display touch-sensitive? This would have made dialing/texting 100 times easier! And quicker..

Now I have another very practical question: when using it as a phone, it seems you have you ear on the metal upper part: how does it feel? cold? hot? My concern is: I live on a tropical island, and already get burnt with the aluminium gear knob in my car & the sunglasses branches during summer, so will I get burnt with Serenata too?? On the other hand, won't it be freezing cold agains your ear when used in Scandinavia??!
