well, I grabbed an old ipod and attached it to the 9000, and it sounded just fine - so I think my vaio headphone amp is just rubbish. I'll try the airport express.

Double check that the DIN plug is turned the right way and REALLY well seated. I use to have the same problem with my last system. Even when I thought it was well seated, it wasn't. That would be the first thing to check. And then check your cable on the other end and make sure iTunes is all the way up and the PC volume is up as well.

Is the volume turned up on the main volume, 'wave' volume and iTunes volume controls?

Make sure as well that you're connected to the IN connections on the AUX input, not the OUT connections. The socket carries sound in AND out of the unit, and if you connect to the output instead of the input, you'll end up with really quiet, flat weak sound.

Did you check if the PC output volume is set to max? I had the same issue, even at max volume it was noticeable weaker then any other device. My solution was to buy an airport express .... that somehow sounded way better and it didn't have the difference in volume when switching from radio or cd to aux.

Hi,

I purchased a cable to connect my PC to my beosound 9000 via the AUX port. So I fire up I Tunes and pick a track, select AUX on the 9000 and the music appears fine.

The thing is - the quality is awful. The MP3 is CD quality, so that's not the issue. I do have to turn up the volume on the PC to high and crank the 9000 volume higher than normal.

Any ideas? Should I just go out and get a Beolink?
