They also seem slightly less nutty about power cables and connectors than some magazines which gives me hope.

Re: Hi-Fi World

Indeed there is - go to www.hi-fiworld.co.uk and you can buy the latest issue online. We're working on back issues too.

Thanks for the publicity Peter, and I take your point about the Beogram 5005; I prefer the BG5000 as well but what I was trying to say was that the 5005 is more complicated than the 5000 owing to it being a linear tracker rather than radial - hence buyer beware.

To be honest, it was tough keeping the article to 2 pages - I could have rambled on for about 5!

Adam.

Re: Hi-Fi World

I too subscribe to the magazine, there is an online subscription available for around £25.

Re: Hi-Fi World

Is there online version of the magazine?

Re: Hi-Fi World

No ! This time extolling the virtues of the Beosystem 5000. A very well written article, most of which I agree with. Hi-Fi World is actually the only magazine I have a subscription for and it offers what I regard as good opinions with more articles on B&O than any other publication. Well worth our support.

About the only quibbles I would have is the description of the Beogram 5005 being more complex than the Beogram 5000 - in my view the 5000 was the ultimate example of the lightweight radial deck made by B&O where the 5005 was a disappointment in comparison to the earlier tangential decks. The 5000 was sturdier, had a superb build quality and sounded better than the 5005 - I swapped my 5000 for a 5005 and always regretted it. The only other quibble was the failure to mention the excellent support for the products available on Beoworld!

Maybe a letter to the Editor is called for! Do go out and buy the magazine - it may encourage further articles! It is the November issue Vol.17 No.9.
