In other words, if your Beocentre 1 had a black plug in the Masterlink socket which you had to remove, then it does NOT have the module installed.

Re: beocenter 1 ml mystery - still mysterious

I'd get the serial and type number of the BC1 and ask the dealer if the unit has the software in it. I remember that some BC1's came with MasterLink connector but the software was left as an optional extra. In Australia most units come with the extras built in. The red flash is the unit responding to your command. Yes, it should be V.Opt.

beocenter 1 ml mystery - still mysterious

hi jez,

this is turning out more complicated than i thought. following your message, i have done some tests at home. an aside before starting, my bc1 was delivered with a beo1 remote control, so i have been using the beo4 i got with my bc6 (which i am trying to connect...). all the link stuff is supposed to show up in the on-screen menus, but never has.

i used the beo4 as you explained to get to the option menu. first confusion, i want to share audio, but is a bc1 a video (v.opt) or audio (a.opt) product. i tried both, and when i set the option to 2, my bc1 blinked the little red light once. on the bc6, it did not respond to a.opt, but had the same one-blink response to v.opt. is this correct behavoir ?

thanks again,

scott

Re: beocenter 1 ml mystery

It does have to be activated. The option also changes depending on what products you are connecting and in what rooms they are in. If it's a BeoCenter1 (as the master) and a sound system as the link (slave) it would be BC1 as option 2 and sound system option 0, this is presuming that the speakers are connected to the TV (is there speakers or just TV speakers?). There are many possiblities depending on what you have. Have a look through your manuals at link options.

Optioning: Push and hold list then press Off button, screen of Beo4 remote will flash, push diamond up or down till you get to option ( "A.Opt" for audio products and "V.Opt" for video products) on screen of Beo4 remote then press number you require. Make sure that the remote is only aimed at the specific product at the time or the other is turned off when optioning.

You can google "B&O masterlink optioning" or may even get it from this site. Maybe calling your dealer is a possibility.

beocenter 1 ml mystery

hi,

i purchased a beocenter 1 many years ago. now in my new apartment i am hoping to hook it up to my other b&o equipment via masterlink. the technical information on the back says :

type : 8518

item : 1824003

serial : 155773XX

sw : 3.0

acc ml

i always belived that "acc ml" meant that i had a masterlink module installed. however, now that i've got everything hooked up - nothing happens. i can't even find the masterlink options in the menu.

before i open the bc1 up to see what's going on, is there any other way to check the masterlink module ? does it have to be activated in some way before it works ?

help !

scott
