digikey or mouser electronics. Another good one is suburban
electronics. (NOT their URL, google it) I buy bags of caps
from them. They stock a LOT of parts and the prices are good.

A
B&O is worth the time and effort to properly re-cap. Just
take your time. I do loads of this for a living. It's not
so bad.

Marc

Re: Beovision MX5000 roll control and sound level issues

Dear Joe,

First get the service manual and then the repair guide I have written about replacing capacitors on the MX-5000. Both are on the Connoisseur Club of this site.

About 50 to 100 capacitors scattered over three PC boards may have to be replaced. So have a spare TV ready when you will do the repair as it may took time. All the boards are accessible but require the chassis to be removed and connectors removed. This is a long repair, but "doable" as I done it myself two years ago.

Good luck!

Jean

Re: Beovision MX5000 roll control and sound level issues

Marc,

Thanks and how difficult is it to get to the capacitors that need replacing? Do not mind taking it a ways apart but if they are on the bottom of a stacked circuit board that takes hours to get to and there are hundreds of them to replace the "fun meter" goes downhill at that point.

Any suggestions on where to buy these parts?

Thx,

Joe

Re: Beovision MX5000 roll control and sound level issues

Replacing the capacitors will fix BOTH issues, and likely improve the picture as well.

I

The solution is simple but tedious: Replace ALL black electrolytic capacitors of Rubycon brand in the set . They will eventually all fail. I have written a repair guide for the MX-5000 and it is on the Connoisseur Club if you can do the repair yourself! If you are not familiar with electronics, go to a good repair shop!

Good luck!

Jean

Beovision MX5000 roll control and sound level issues

I have a Beovision MX5000 that has worked fine for many years now. In the last couple of months it has starting losing its roll control, and at times the picture will roll without stopping for a while. It does this for a while, then the normal picture returns.

I assume that there is a "roll adjustment" somewhere on the television or in the electronic menu for the set, but I cannot find my book for the set anywhere and cannot find one to view on the internet.

Also while on the subject of the television I have noticed that the sound level that I get at max seems to be coming lower, in other words when the set was new I could blast myself out of the room but now at max its fine but no where near what it used to be. This is using the Beo4 or Beo 1000 remotes (yes, I have a lot of B&O products) and no difference in the sound output. Any ideas what could be causing the television to be losing output in this area?

TIA,

Joe

Phoenix Arizona
