I discovered that the problem with my BeoSound 9000 is fogging over of the laser optics. I live near the ocean, but my apartment is air conditioned. Nonetheless, when I contacted a B & O technician, he suggested that I blow some warm air using a hair dryer into the CD reader head and see if that corrected the problem. It did. I also tried placing a heating pad on the glass over the reader head for an hour and that also worked. Another course of action was to turn on the radio (on mute) for about an hour. It allows the machine to heat up and drive away the condensation on the laser reader lens. That also works. So, my advice is to keep your CD player WARM by turning on the radio for a while, letting the machine warm up, and then try playing your CDs. This approach has saved me an enormous amount of grief let alone expense trying to pursue a solution that really is far more simple than an expensive repair.

Yes I read that one. Have done all the cleaning suggested. Mine is the Mk3. Spoke with B&O engineer who suggested using a liquid cleaner on the lens as a last resort. Failing that needs to be taken in for further investigation.

What's annoying is once it's sorted itself out it works perfectly. Once it's been in standby half an hour or sotheproblem returns. Widsh it's pack up fully and I know what I'm doing with it then.( That's into the shop! ) Just keeps offering the potential of hope!!

Re cleading the laser lens. I have done usig a dry soft brush. Still exhibits problem. Are you proposing that I use one that utilises a slovent based liquid. If so which?

Try cleaning the two small knobs on the lower front under the glass. If they are dirty the BS9000 will think there is a hand or something under the glass close to the discs and will pause.

Have read previous articles re: similar problem. Once unit is turned on works okay -goes to disc and starts "hunting" then shows "pause" in LED display. Once all tweaked seems to work okay for next few hours. Once it's been in standby a while ( hours) repeats same problem.

Cleaned glass (inside and out), Clamper assembly, interlock posts and channel in which clamper works/moves. Took back off unit and cleaned rear of clamper unit. It's a Mk3 so bit surprised got any probs. Used cleaning disc with small brushes. No joy. Anyone any last ideas before I line the pockets of my local B & O shop???
