Ok ok! Eureka, thanks for the help that's neat! Too bad can't use the stb controller with it, because it makes more sense to turn on the telly with the TV button.

You've got to go to the sources and say that the scart where the set top box is connected is a DECODER.

Then you edit the "DTV" channel and say that it needs a decoder.

When you call that channel, it will send the encrypted signal to the decoder via the scart, and get the decrypted signal back from the scart and display it.

In this specific case, as the box is not a decoder, the input signal is ignored.

The downside is that you can't use a set-top box controller anymore.

It works on an AVANT and an MX, but I do not know if it works with newer set.

I do not know if my BV7 has this DECODER feature.

Our BV3 isn't falling for this trick. How do you do it! I deleted all channels but one and named it DTV, and the STB is connected via that sat scart. Does it need to be set a certain way? Help!

When editing TV list, press menu when a channel is highlighted, and it comes up with "del?"!

Hmmm ... well, call me stupid ... but i forgot how to "delete" all the existing channels ... I need to dig out the instructions or can someone remind me how to do this on the later software MX4000 etc. (say Improved Text version or newer) ?

I never tried to control a STB through the TV channels, but on my BeoCenter 1, I programmed both SCARTS as decoders, and stored 2 TV channels for each of the decoders.

This way, when I choose TV 1, with decoder 1activated, it shows "BEOCORD" (for my non B&O VCR) , and when selecting TV2, with the decoder nr2 activated, it shows "BEOMEDIA" (for the PC that's connected).

Same for my BV3: I only stored one TV channel, that I set up as a program needing a decoder, connected my PC Y/C + audio output to the DECODER SCART at the back of BV3, and now have the PC display on BV3 just by pressing "TV"! Since BV3 has no "PC" source control, it is quite practical to do so.

Whether you can remote control the STB is another question! I don't use any STB...

Ok, let's try again: using the "TV" button selects the only TV channel there is - the one named STB. (the name doesn't matter - I you a Dreambox so mine is called Dreambox). Since the TV thinks it is a channel that needs a decoder automatically the decoder scart plug is selected, in this case V.TAPE2.

About the PUC I am not sure, I have never seen the set-up/settings.

I admit I use the Dreambox remote control for the STB. But at least no list stuff for selecting the Box.

Why not this workaround:

Put the external STB for example on v.tape2, delete all tv channels but one, name it STB, tell the system it is decoded and make v.tape2 a decoder connection.

Choosing TV now gets you to your STB!

Perhaps a silly question, but does anyone knows whether it is possible to re-program the 'TV' button on the BEO4 to act as an other 'button'?

We also have [TV] on A9 (key ring) and BL 2000. Would love to have them changed (or reprogrammed) to [DTV].

Thats not possible on BS3...

I think you should tray and contact this danish company they make it possible to control any thing with beo4 would be an easy job for them.
