B&O do use some Philips components and also Sharp, Samsung and Panasonic - even Sony at times! - but the IR codes used by B&O are unique to B&O and are much higher frequency than most other makes. This gives better range but does mean that to control other boxes, a Peripheral Unit Controller is required. This works by the TV set accepting the command from the remote and decoding it and sending the correct code via an IR blaster on a wire to the third party box. As stated above, a list of those devices is available. Unfortunately, other makes seem to change codes regularly unlike B&O where the codes have been unchanged for the last 20 years. New ones are added as necessary but an original Beolink 1000 will work any new product fitted with remote control.

Re: Avant & Digital TV

You may wish to review the AVANT list for Software 3.6 table 3.91 HERE

Re: Avant & Digital TV

If the Digital box is written into the Avants software then yes the Avant/Beo4 will be able to control the digital box. Many boxes are written into the software and the software can be upgraded by service tech for newer boxes. The best thing to do, pay a visit to your local store and they could recommend what box to use with the Avant.
I have two boxes controlled by the Beo4, one is free to air digital with DTV button and the other is digital pay tv on V.AUX. V AUX can be added to your list function for extra connections such as digital boxes, game consoles ect.

Avant & Digital TV

Hello,

I have a 28" Avant 100hz. I would like to plug a freeview digital set top box so I can watch digital television channels.

If I went the route of buying a generic box, is it true that if I buy a certain brand of box I can use the Beo4 remote control to change the channels?
