I have the same type and use it as my main Beomaster.

I would not use speakers that can't handle the 2*75 watt output. On lower volume it can work but not ideal and not good for the speakers at all.

It would be a got idea to test if its fully working correctly by using it on a daily basis. Overheating on the back cool ribs and the volumemotor can be tricky if not working.

Does it have the remote module installed on the front? Original remote?

In fully working condition its a wonderfull sounding Beomaster with power and stable.

The only thing I can compare with the 5000 is the lack of integrated cd connection. You only have TP2 on the 6000 master only! so a bit more manual switching for a cd player.

Beomaster 6000

A working example of the above (early '80's model - smaller sister to the BM8000) has come into my posession free and gratis. I'm a little non-plussed as to what it do with it (I can't sell it on as it was given to me specifically because I was known to like B&O). Its quite a hefty beast, certainly bigger than I remember when I used to lust after them in shop windows, I don't have any source to use it with nor do I have any spare speakers at the mo'.

Just how good is this unit (compared to my BM5000), is it wasted on small speakers in a spare room (CX50's or CX100's for example) driven from an iPod docking station??

It seems a shame to stick it in the loft.
