Your mrk1 beo com 2 to will not work on a new style Beoline even with a sofware update.

I understand the 044 = UK

2.10 = Software Version

Its the 0004100929 that I don't understand

If you are talking about the code in the form of

001B3A7E50 then that is what B&O called "sxdata" and is the last 9 digits of the serial number in HEX

My 6000 is working fine so as the old adage goes, if it ain't broke......

As for the numbers, I understand the country code and software version, its the long number beneath these two details that I was interested in. Perhaps it tells you how many days or hours the phone has been used for?

Generally speaking you do not need to upgrade the software unless you have a problem which needs to be fixed.

Only minor issues are resolved after version 2.1 and certainly nothing which would warranty a software upgrade.

To perform a software upgrade to any Beocom 6000 and Beoline product requires:-

A Service Jig for that product, see pictures below
A B&O Software Service Tool
An adapter cable

Software updates cannot be done without the above items. Below is a picture of a Beocom 6000 Service Jig

The country code shown for UK software load is 044 which is the international code for the UK and the software version you already know.

Hi all

I have a MK1 6000 with s/w version 2.1.

Are there any benefits of upgrading to 2.5, and if so, can I do this at home since (I believe) its just a software update?

Also, what is the number displayed under the country code and software version?

Now I understand, if I use two PSTN bases I should have the same handset registered as handset number 1 on both bases then always add numbers to the phone book from the number 1 handset and they will be available to all handsets on all bases.

I think that might be my prefered solution, ie two PTSN's (i already have a spare - long story) then I can have up to 12 phones - more than enough

I think you mis-understood me, so I will restate to be clear on this point.

You can enter numbers into the address book from any phone connected to the same base, so if you only have one base, it is simple, you enter you phone number and it is seen on any other phone.

You can register a handset to up to four (4) bases then you must consider my previous last sentence statement.

The handset number 1 issue only becomes important if

You have more than one PSTN base AND
you are registering one or more phones to more than one base

If the above is NOT the case then forget the sentence you did not understand.

Are you saying the common phone book is only available for numbers entered from handset number 1. I'm sure I have entered numbers from other handsets and they are available to all hansets registered to the base. Or are you implying that its possible to register a handets with more than one base.

Your dealer can do a software update of your Beocom 2's, it is quite a quick job.

You cannot link PSTN bases in terms of phonebook sharing. The common phonebook is only valid when a given handset uses its base number 1. i.e. the base to which the handset was registered as handset number 1

Is the Software update something thats a quick job or do the phones need to be sent away ?

As for two PSTN bases, I assume that they CAN'T be linked together i.e share one phonebook, allow INT calls, and transfers from phones registered to one base to another phone on the other base.

Which Beocom are you talking about ?

Assuming you are talking about the Beocom 6000 then this requires a board change to make it a Mark II and is covered in several other threads like this one HERE I can assist you with such an upgrade if that is the route you wish to take.

The Beocom 2 can have just a software update.

You can also have more than one PTSN base if you wish.
