Do you know how much the upgrade cost? I hope that my retailer will find a solution...in june, they knew the situation

If I understand correct, the upgrade would involve switching the panels which is a major change. Not sure though if I would be upset, you pay for the full HD with lower contrast ratio and I am guessing when you compare D9 HD and D9 Full HD it comes down to personal preference rather then significant difference.

I am also thinking that B&O will update panels at least once a year going forward, so every time you turn around there will be some sort of improvement that in the end is minor for your day to day viewing.

The 50" screen is somewhat borderline where full HD makes sense, not sure what you use to feed it but most cable TV, DVD and what else there is won't live up to it.

hi all,

i'm new. I purchased a beovision 9 in june and i'm very angry because now i know that there is the full hd one. i would like to know if it's possible to do an upgrade or, if this is not possible, if you know that someone have changed its hd ready bv9 for a full hd one for free.

My bv9 is a #9710

John, that piece of information is actually missing where I am at, but what I am able to pull up claims that this type no is the current one - and the current one is Full-HD. And to further add confusion: it is possible to perform an upgrade to Full-HD and how to avoid green/red "snow" in the picture afterwards. When you get a chance, please send me a PM containing all numbers includind type no and sw version of the BS3.

I have D9 in my Full HD BV9

so there is 2 types of D9?

I assume that was a question for me. I have a Beosystem 3, not 2.

have to see the Type number later - can't get to it now. But is that relevant to the monitor specs ?

I am aware of course that the Beosystem has to be able to handle HD ...but my BS 3 is.

But its type: 9021

I assume that this is G9, but can anyone ID as to which extend of HD this is ??

You can also use P.MUTE on the beo4 to switch off the plasma if you like. (you may need to add P.MUTE to your list menu on Beo4)

B&O have issued an SW update for the BeoMedia to avoid burn-in on their plasma (PDP) series (current and past): Set the display time-out to three minutes and the darken level to 200 in the BeoMedia settings as described below:

SETTINGS:

- DISPLAY TIME OUT: 3 MIN

- DARKEN LEVEL: 200

If you follow this recommendation, then B&O's tech dept have found that your expensive plasma display is safe when used with their BeoMedia 1. Not that the above settings are done in the BeoMedia setup menu (not the tv's) as indicated <GO> <R> <9>

Since you really seem to be an expert can you tell me a little bit more about BEOMEDIA and BURN IN? I am still in time to ask my dealer to get me the BV 9 without the BeoMedia if that is better... what would you recommend?

I like the idea of seeing my pictures on the BV9 and playing there my MP3 files, but of course don't want to get the screen ruined becasue of that...

1) I have just ordered a few days ago a BeoVision 9 which is supposed to be Full HD (1080p). How can I verify that is correct when I receive the TV? I'm getting a bit confused with all these different panels and specs...
2) Furthermore, I requested this to come with the BeoMedia installed, but I'm a bit concerened about possible BURN-IN if I use that BeoMedia a lot for images or MP3... should that be a legitimate concern?
3) I will have paired up with a Playstation 3 too... can gaming be in issue with regards to BURN-IN?
4) Do B&O tvs need to be calibrated? or is something I have to deal with myself?

1) HD-Ready versions have type no 9710-9719, Full-HD versions have 9720-9730.

2) Yes, but they have updated the SW in the BeoMedia 1 to solve this (same is true for "older" versions of BeoSystem 3 and HDR-2)

3) Do not leave a still picture on for longer time periodes.

4) Yes, they do - but the BeoVision 9 is calibrated by a clever Danish person at Struer. All by hand, of course, wearing white gloves.
