Alright, that is so weird! My god, just 12 feet?! We got back from a 20 hour road trip last night to pick up our new TV (a BV3-32) but it's picture is out of wack [:'(]

Please explain all that i can do to remedy it's slantyness. Also, the left bar is wider than the right bar... i want the picture to look as goos as people say it does! At the moment the picture has an inaccurate edgeyness (probably due to the sight slant in the picture)

Or do i need to take it in for a service?

Well Andy, I'm not the best to tell this because of my pour English.

But I will have a go at it, the north pole is a big magnetic field, a TV makes it own magnetic field around it self. But because the distance form the gun to the front of the screen, are so long on a 32"(16/9). the north pole can pull the beam out of cause, so it don't hit the point it was meant to. this is no problem on 28" because the distance 1/3 shorter..

The magnetic fields created by the earth are very powerful but spread out, kinda like a gentle breeze can push a boat, although the much faster and 'more powerful' air blowing out the front of a hairdryer or fan would never have a hope of pushing a yacht or boat along (even though it's faster).

The earth's magnetic fields behave in vaguely the same way. I'm sure you've see what happens when you hold a magnet up to a CRT display, all the colours go weird and the picture warps around the magnet slightly. Well it's the same thing with the earth's magnetic field. It's not concentrated enough to cause any discolouration or major geometry issues, but it can 'rotate' the whole screen if it pulls in the right direction.

In a CRT, a gun at the back of the tube fires cathodes onto a phosohor screen at the front of the CRT which lights up wherever a cathode collides with it. The cathodes are aimed at the right parts of the screen by elements on the left, right, top and bottom of the tube which change their charge to push and pull the travelling cathodes in the right direction and point on the screen.

The same happens with the earth's magnetic field, it pulls the travelling cathodes round and rotates the image.

I do not believe it!! I was the North Pole as you said. It is cured...... Thank you so much......

But now if the TV faces west the picture is level - if it faces south (where I have the sofas!) it is on a slant - what do I do?! And don't say move the sofas!

If it's 32" then the North pole is a factor because it pulls in the deflection, turn off your TV, turn it 90' and see what happens

Depending on how much of a slant the picture has, its most likely that the scan coils have slipped/rotated on the tube neck when you moved the TV. If this is the case, then manual adjustment back again will fix the problem.

I moved my Avant across the room, and now the picture slopes across the screen left to right. About 2 to 3 cm diference over the width I guess. I did once before dial in the correction with the Beo remote, but that was years ago, and I can't recall what to do. Does anyone out there know what I should do?

Yes it is the 32 ich version - and I moved it only 12 feet or so by 'walking' it
