I think the handset is "learning" some parameters about the battery (e.g. average discharge time to display the correct loading level) and this code is used to reset these parameters.

I had lost my small note that came with the new battery and I couldn't find any thing in the user manual. (Of course I look there first, Graham!)

Does anyone know what this code does? After entering the code, the handset sais "No battery"???

Cor.rect Andy so it must have been the service manual I read it in. I just checked and it's not on the site so I must have downloaded a copy from the old site.

The old site is of course no longer available and I've had two new hard discs in the computers since then!!!!

Somewhere I have a print of it ..........

Do you know, I have often wondered about this.
In the manual it says "If replacing with a NEW battery, follow the instructions supplied with the battery"
In the instructions in the new battery it says to do the 9#9# thingy. However, the new battery comes in a discharged state and thus the 'phone can't be switched on.
So, how the flippin' heck can you enter 9#9#9 etc?
Graham, downloading the manual will be of no benefit to him as it just tells you to refer to the instructions in the battery!
Keith, I'm quite sure he was not talking about the pin number but this silly 9#9# thing.

If all you have done is change the battery, then it should work without entering anything. If it is asking for a Pin code then the problem is most likely what I previously described.

I do have the MK 1 and as I can remember you should dail a "code" so that the handset knows that you have changed battery pack.

Is this the 9#9#9*655 ?

I assume you are talking about "Pin Code". Well you should not need a pin code, but if you are being asked for one it almost certainly means that you have got 6 handsets already registered and you did not de-register the handset before you changed the battery.

I guess you have a Mark I Beocom 6000 handset, please confirm ?
