Hi Stig....okay...i know i must be on the short bus or something.....but when i look at the set up handbook for the BC9500 online......"Speaker 1" has 4 pins... and

"Speaker 2" and 3 pins....Now....Speaker 2 is what they use for MCL...yes???

So why....would there be 4 pins in Speaker 1 and not Speaker 2.....I would think 2 way would take more pins....???????????

Speaker1 : oneway data to speaker display (4 pin)

Speaker 2 : twoway data to master control link, if you look at the ''extra speaker kit" to passive speakers it has the same connection as Speaker 1. (3 pin)

When I had my Beolab Penta A connected to a MCL-2A box i had full and working information on the displays.

I use a Beosystem 5500 with a MCL-2A box to a linkroom (MCL-2A connected to Speaker 2 on Beomaster 5500). The speakerconnections on MCL-2A box is a standard 4-pin Speakerlink while on Speaker2 on Beomaster 5500 is "only" 3-pin.

No, you will have display in link rooms with a MCL-2AV. I have BL4500 connected to a MCL-2AV and the display works fine. Pentas and other speakers are connected to the MCL-2AV by PowerLink.

There are no normal speaker-out on a 2AV, only PowerLink, antenna and 3 AUX (CD, TAPE and TV-AUX).

The MCL-2AV is connected to the Beocenter via MCL cable, and hereby you can actualle get Powerlink, even if you music system does not have the outlets.

I am not sure about an MCL-2A, which is used with passive speakers. Cannot remember how many pins there are to each spearker, but will check when I get home this evening.

Thanks Craig....got it now...so some Penta 1's placed locally can have display of info..but once you go to MCL say in a Link room with a MCL 2 AV....then if you put Penta 1's there...you would not have display??? yes/?

The 4 pin connections are Speakerlink connections. They are used for early active speakers like Penta 1's and some of the Beolab flat panel speakers. The extra pins carry the data for the display in the spaekers. Where the 3 pin conections are MCL connections.

Hi Peter, okay...i've read thru all of that....but how does Speakers 1 differ from Speakers 2 on my Beocenter..... 1 has 4 connections each side...the other only has 3?????????????

Page 7.3 of the MCL2 system handbook - apart from the signal and ground, there is data and data ground.

What's exactly carried....when i look at Speaker 1 vs. Speaker 2 ...obviously there is 1 extra connection for Speaker 1....i'm just trying to get my mind wrapped around the 7 lines in Speaker Link...
