I agree with Roger. The BeoLab 9s may not kick out as much bass as the BeoLab 2 can, but what they do produce is more controlled, and FAR more accurate and musical. The BeoLab 2 is great, but it's not on par with the bass from the BeoLab 9s.

A truly fantastic pair of speakers!

I tried to use the BL7.4 with a pair of BL8k's, but that didn't work for me - sounded like the speakers were connected to different sources trying to play the same content. So I would go for the BL3 up front. But give it a try when get the ultimate media master!

I had the chance this week to do some serious testing of BL3+BL2 vs BL9. And as I use the BL5 as my reference, the conclusion was: BL9. Sure, the BL2 will rock more (it will even add more bass than a calibrated pair of BL5's for almost any given movie). But if you listen to a movie (!), you will quickly learn that the BL5 gives you a perfect bass while the BL2 will rumble. Which is why I prefer the BL9 without the BL2. Since you are such a loyal customer, your dealer might let you test drive the BL9's with the BV9 for a week or so. Without the BL2 connected.

Yes I know the issue about mixing acustic lens with BL 8000. As you know I swap my 7:4 to 7:2 to my BV7-40

Roger do you think I shall take my BL3 and set as front and BL8000 as rear?

Nobody belives me when I say that I do prefer the overall design of the 7, but the picture quality of the BV9 is in a different league (prior to the launch of the 7-40 mkIII). But in your case it looks good! You have "air" on both sides of it - something that is very important IMHO.

You will notice that the BL7.4 will be too clear compared to the BL8k's, so I would ask Santa for a pair of BL9's this Xmas.

Send me a PM if you would like a copy of the BM1 mounting instructions - they show how you connect to the Interface Panel with the BM1.

If you place the BM1 in there or B&O does will not make a difference. The extensions to make use of the connections are available to order, no big deal once you see how this is done. BV9 is basically a modular cabinet, with an HDR and a BM1 added.

but the ethernet/pccard/usb connection on the back off the BV9 is not there if you order without BM1 or?

Yes, DVDB-S modul works fine, also with canal digital (using conax cam 4.00 and smartwi card), but had problems with digital sound and with picture when switching certain stations in Germany - sound switches but screen was black. These problems are (mostly) solved with sw 2.0.

Memo-sides don`t work in the DVB-S module, same problem in DVB-T, as my dealer just told me.

But I would like to know more about the DVB-T/S module of the BS3 (?).

Hi Anders,

Only have experience with the built-in sat module - and it works 100% (even with Canal Digital).

Yes, you can remove the BM1 - or place the one you currently own in the compartment (please notice that you will have to take off the fabric in front to get access to the "cabinet"). I would recommend using the one you have, unless you get a one-for-one trade-in with your dealer.

The only drawback (beside the price!) of the BV9: Even if it comes without the HDR-2 in the US, it is not possible to order it without the HDR-2 over here. Strange, as quite a few sat/cable companies offer an integrated STB/PVR these days.
