It's too late Raeuber, the B&O technician already disassembled the tv.

Do you have to pay for the software upgrade only or for the upgrade plus the two hours engineer job ?

No, it was all dealer driven. There's a known issue with the BV10-46 that requires/d a mainboard upgrade, according to the dealer. The dealer arranged for the B&O engineer to fit a new mainboard....but to get to it, you have to virtually distmantle the BV10.

But, I know this engineer. He's been to my place a few times and, frankly, is superb. Know him well enough to leave him unattended whilst I went out for lunch.

Put the new mainboard in place, connected it all up again, updated the PUC list and it's good to go. Didn't even have to move the TV.

I'd have never wanted to do something like that. He had lots of circuit boards on the floor, screws galore etc. He really knows what he's doing though.

Oh and he doesn't get a B&O "staff" discount. Maybe I should write to B&O as the guy does a sterling job for B&O UK.

Re: Software Update Mess - BV10 in bits!

My BV 10-40 was updated several times and I had never to pay for this.
It's rediculous that a software update requires a technician and disassembling of the tv

I wouldn´t dismantle a new BV 10-46 only for upgrading the software if you don´t have any problems right now! I assume you have build 210 which works properly.

Dealer went to upgrade the software on the BV10-46 and found it couldn't be done without a replacement part (PCB?). The service engineer from B&O is round here at the moment with the BV10-46 in bits, simply so he can upgrade the software.

Apparentely there was a fault with the BV10-46 where it wasn't possible to make a connection to update the software, due to problem connecting the cable to the mainboard or something. Requires a new PCB, dismantling to install and a 2 hour engineer job.

B&O really do not make it easy for themselves :)

It's quite worrying and depressing seeing a new-ish BV10-46 dismantled, just to be able to update the software!
