The Beogram 5500 platter would have to be taken off, and some protection against arm rolling should be inserted at the arm slot in the back. Ship the stylus seperately in a safe box.

Just want to clarify about taking the platter off. There is the top platter, then there is a black spacer beneath it and then, the main platter base that has the gear attached and the belt around it. Should these come off for shipment also and belt removed as well? In addition when the belt is taken off the drive spindle it is not tight againist the platter base but rather it falls off. Is this correct or is this an indication of a worn belt. (the turntable does play normally and all functions work properly).

Thanks again for your guidance. I want the new owner to receive this turntable in good shape.

You should also take some precautions when shipping the Beocenter 9000. The lower glass panel is known to loosen under transit, as it's just attached with double-sided tape. It it loosens, it will scratch the surface and self-destruct in small fragments of glass. See this video as a scenario of the damage done when shipping one of these wrong: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3KxGmcpRZo

Ouch, that hurts to look at it. So, if I float the unit inside a double box with foam around the glass panel that should do it best I can, right? Thanks for the advise.

I will also be shipping a Beocenter 9000 and have installed the two tansport screws on the bottom for the CD drive. Any other measure on this one as well? I will be double boxing both units with professional packing materials. Thanks for your guidence.
