I don't like anything Monster, my BL 8000 (bought used) came with a Monster cable Ipod (3,5 Mm) to line on speakers, to each speaker about 3 Meters, I cut a piece of 2 string 24 gauge copper cable in the same length, Monster showed 1,8 Ohm, the 24 gauge o,2 Ohm, a 1.8 Ohm R will convert my 4 Ohm drivers to nearly 6 Ohm as I see it.

I have had to discard one convertor that I use in my car, kept breaking contact. One thing about these devises is they are Cheap and I mean real "cheap" . I wont buy the name brands or spend the money charged at most retailers instead I bought mine in a lot of 4 off eBay for about $2 apiece. The $2 generic is just as cheaply built as the $10-15 dollar name brand convertor.

Re: finally...a beogram :)

Rich:

Anyone want a barely used Monster cassette to mp3 player convertor?

lee, my plan is to eventualy get an MMC1 but i'll have to wait a few months as other pressing needs here in poor old Ireland :)

also take Sorens point that on old 'well played' vinyl, it might be better to be using a less expensive stylus than an MMC 1 or 2!....

Its great to see so many guys here intot the vinyl again..some probably never stopped using it, others (like me) are returning to it for that wonderful warm and full sound that is so often missing from digital, esp from compressed downloads.

One never hears the MMC3 discussed. I think I've only ever seen one for sale.

Re: finally...a beogram :)

Step1:

And there are plenty of new releases (and re-releases) to keep you happy :) I am eagerly awaiting Pink Floyd's The Wall on 180gram, due out next month! Enjoy!

I'll be buying this as well.

Bought the Dark Side of the Moon anniversary edition a couple years ago, and was disappointed. Sibilance. Then was disappointed to read last fall's re-re-release of Dark Side sounded terrible as well (check user reviews on Amazon). Apparently the terrible sound was limited to a US pressing, and European pressings were fine.

I did buy the rerelease of Wish You Were Here this month and like it very much.

Has anyone bought the Immersion versions of any of the Floyd rereleases?

Re: finally...a beogram :)

Paul:

I have a Beogram 4000, and my Father has one too; two working examples in good condition in one house

I prefer a test with rythmic music, though I like some classical pieces. My interest had grown rather unusually from symphonic death metal.

Re: finally...a beogram :)

David, you sholud post a pic of ur white Beogram 7000, and it must sound delicous with an MMC1...perfection!

Soren,

I am a little envoius that you own a Beogram 4000!!! lol.

A Wonderful piece of Beo Engineering, in fact often referred to as over-engineered. and you have an equally impressive colllection of MMC's - im particularly happy to hear thre MMC2 is a good stylus as I will be a proud owner of one within a few days, thanks to Graham:)

I know about the Mexco city auditorium, and if im not mistaken, Deep Purple did a re-formed gig there last year in 2011 in march or april??

Wow in terms of Handel : "The Messiah" was written by Handel in my city, Dublin. I adore Handel too.

Can I recommend a piece by another classical composer called Allegri. The piece is called the MISERERE. it is sublime, transcendent, utter perfection.

It was originally performed only within the Vatican By The Palastrina Boys Choir (some of these unlucky boys were referred to as Castrato - a barbaric practice of castrating boys before their voices underwent the change of adolescence in order to preserve its tone and pitch).

it is said that Mozart, hearing the MISERERE as a child age 8 or 9, wrote it down note for note, from memory, after listening to a performance. He said it was the finest piece of choral music ever written. Little annoying Brat by the sound of that story lol!!! Hes lucky he never joined the Palastrina because Mozart, if I remember, was fairly fond of the ladies He escaped the fate of Castration at the hands of the choir-master!

P
