Thanks to all for your advice on this one. I as thinking 36v is a bit strange for keeping CMOS data.. :)

Anyway, as you all say the phone should work without this battery, and it is as dead as a doornail, I think I'll have to take it apart and have a look.

My friend thinks it looks like a childs toy phone (it is the bright red one with multicolour buttons) and is quite amused, but I still for some reason really like it.. :)

it is a pity there's no caller ID on these (I don't think it was invented :) ) but other than that....

I'll let you know of any progress once I get it on the bench.

The suggested battery will be fine and cost around £6

no expert in this but,

it's a 3,6V lithium battery, it no longer available from B&O. it will work with out it, just have no memory if unplugged..

Found the battery here 11th battery down. The battery is in fact 3.6V

Not sure where you would get the battery, but ive just read on beocentral that the battery is in case the phone was disconnected or moved, a lithium battery maintained the memories. So when plugged in you shouldnt need a battery. Hope you can fix it.

Hi all

I have just bought a Beocom 2000 on eBay as faulty. I have noticed it has no battery in it... the battery compartment says 36v - if this is true, what on earth battery is it, and where can I get one from? Do we have any Beocom experts on the group?
