Hello Toubro,

Do you know how can i see the milage that a bv9 have? And how many years the bv9 plasma can be used?

Pepso, I'm not sure if it will be 100% the same for BV9, but here is how you access 'service counter' on a BV5 tv - I'm guessing it is probably the same, or very similar process :

Put TV to 'Stand-By'

Press 'TV' on Beo4

Press 'MENU' then select 'SET UP'

Press 'GO'

then press '0', '0', GO quickly (press zero twice and then GO quickly)

This then gives you access to the service counters of the TV, you can see how many hours TV has been in use so far, how many times TV has been switched on/off so far etc...etc.

How many years can BV9 be used..? Again, I'm not sure about the BV9's screen - all I know is what Lee has told me previously regarding BV5 and that is that the panasonic screens used in BV5's were expected to have a life expectancy of 'at least 60,000 hours'.

My BV5 is now in it's 9th year and has just passed the 10,000 hour mark. This is considered a 'low to medium' usage tv and i'm hoping it will go on and on for many more years/hours. Thus far it's perfect, without a single scratch or blemish and still looking like it came out of the factory (in DENMARK of course ) just yesterday

The only TV I would swop it for would be a BV9 in fact

Regards,

Re: Is lifstyle Av. Then, with the type number, go into the Main Site on Beoworld site or beocentral.com site, find the tv model eg. BV5 or BV9 your looking for, and there you will see which Type No. = Mk of the television.

If I had the money, I would have gotten the BV7-55, but look at the price and compare it to recent (well received) LCD's by Samsung...

Now this year there are interesting developments, just look at the 55' OLED that LG presented.

A check on www.avforums.com will show the problems being encountered with the top models of LCD TVs from Samsung,Sony, and LG.

Additionally,as far as I am aware,Samsung do not market a full backlit LED TV.

Sony, and LG,have had problems with their full backlit models.

So,a BV7-55 may well be the only quality option.

As for OLED,it remains to be seen if the problem of non uniform ageing of the RGB colours has been solved.

Re: Is lifstyle Av.

Roger:

You can not go wrong with any of them. The mkI was the only 720p version, but as most stuff transmitted still is 720p or 1080i the need for the later 1080p can be debated. With the mkII came the 1080p panel in June 2007 (type no9720-9730). They both came standard with the HDR-2 and the BeoMedia 1 was an option. In March 2008 came the mkIII (type no 9760-9772) with ACM (automatic colour management). In November 2008 came the current mkIV (type no 9773-9784) with the D10 panel and BeoSystem 3.1.1 and later (August 2009) the type no 9785 - 9796 with the D11 panel.

If 1080p is VERY important to you (there is a difference when used with a 1080p bluray-player, but hardly any for cable/sat tv) I would go for the mkII or a later version.

You should check the milage (hours/days on). The later 1080p panels can suffer from burn-in, something we belived was sorted out years ago, but there is a fix/remedy available in the service menu to cure almost any case.

Roger

Mine is an MK.III, so it is Full HD, and I have never seen a picture as good as this. I don't remember having any problems with the setup. I only have the Beo4 remote, so I haven't tried with the Beo5.

It has the BS3, which is one of the reasons I choose it instead of the BV10. It also has better sound and it stands on its own, where the BV10 needs a stand. I have an Apple TV2, and a PS3 connected, as well as Masterlink. Sometimes I also connect a Wii or Xbox.

Regarding standalone players, these can be controlled by the PUC.

Re: Is lifstyle Av.
I'm with you, for me a piece of bang&olufsen is a piece of art. You said it's not easy to connect everything and easy to use but I think that tv have a great centre to connect everything, beosistem 3. It's not easier to use? I have to connect 4 beolab 3, apple tv, beosound 3000 and a digital receiver.

I also like more the beovision 7 55" but there's not yet used ones to sell. I thought about the beovision 10 46". I don't know. Is your bv9 full hd or 720 p ?

Re: Is lifstyle Av.
designwise, I am absolutely thrilled about my bv9 - always loved the design, always dreamed about owning one.

i have a playstation 3, apple tv and a digital receiver connected to it, and the picture of the bv9 looks great. also, with my beolabs 5 I have a great sound.

the one thing I am unhappy about is the software side, meaning the ease of use (it was a pain putting everything together). with the beo5 remote I was never happy, totally confusing, now i only use the beo4 that came with my beovision 7.

as a matter of fact, I still admire the design of the bv7 more, because the dvd is built right in, you just press a button, and boom... If I had the money, I would have gotten the BV7-55, but look at the price and compare it to recent (well received) LCD's by Samsung...

Now this year there are interesting developments, just look at the 55' OLED that LG presented. And since one has to choose other labels for Bluray and so on (ergo different screen menues and in worst case scenarios more plastic remotes on the table), B&O seems to make less sense in the future (at least to me). Should Apple this year bring something to the market that has a good enough picture quality and some smart ideas about sound like that Bose TV (sorry Bose haters...), I will be very tempted to get another TV....

However, I always wanted to own a nice B&O TV, and I am very, very happy with my BV9 for now.
