Got the panel on and control the Sky with the Beo4 as before , got to program my Beo5 the control the Blu-ray and the smart screen . Next I want to disconnect the BV5 screen , hoping I can pull out the screen plug and connect to the new panel so I can see the BV5 menus if ever needed . Got a few more pictures but will only let me add one .

Cost was just under £1900. Customer was very happy with his nicely upgraded B&O product.

Re: upgrade my BeoVision5 to HD

Is there a Beo remote command to turn the screen off and on ?
Back to my generic platform, upgradeable B&O tv thread! A horrible waste if you can't upgrade what is one component part of the 5, albeit an important one.

Re: upgrade my BeoVision5 to HD

Could change the panel , but quite involved . Not got a lot of room around the 5 , because the frame is very narrow on the Samsung the width on a 46” is the same , so gain a bit on the screen size .

But what connections to use for the sound out of the Blu-ray player into the BV5 , don’t’ have many options into the BV5 , scart , S-Vid , audio left and right ( next to the S-Vid ) and input one and two ( next to the speaker sockets ), Any suggestions what is best ?

Want to upgrade my BeoVision 5 setup to HD , but with the relative low price of panels I can’t justify the high B&o tv prices any more . So I propose to hang a Samsung 46” screen on the front of the 5 , You might gasp in horror but my 5 is in a built in unit and can only be viewed from the front so would not look odd or out of place . I want to use the 5 as a BeoSystem 3 so will disconnect the 5’s screen and use it to drive all my Lab speakers and control the Sky with the B&o remote , also have a 7000 connected and master link Tv in the bedroom above . The Samsung screen will be direct to the Sky box via HDMI , so the only thing I will have to do is turn on/off the Samsung screen , but could program my Beo5 to do that . Should be able to connect an RF feed to the Samsung from the 5 so I can view the B&o menus when needed . the only problem I can think of is a possible sound lag because the 5 will be processing sound thru the Scart , dose anyone think this will be a problem or any other things I haven’t thought of ?

Richard

Any thoughts also on connecting a Blu-ray player , HDMI direct to the Samsung for picture but how to connect for sound ?
