I'm thrilled with my BS5000 since I have all passive speaker systems. I find the sound quality of the BM5000 to be very similar to my BeoCenter 3500. My preference is the 5000 due to the flexibility of datalink and the expadibility of the MCL82 links.

I agree!!! I have a System 6500, a System 4500 and a BeoCenter 9500 which i use regularly. Besides I have a System 5000.
I can't decide which is the best looking...love them all.
I haven't bought a B&O audio unit since the BeoSound 2300. As you say - the range today is a bit of a mess. As if they don't know which way to go with their design... Those who try to please everyone, might end up making no one happy...

But...It seems they can capture the attention of the I-pod/pad/phone generation with the BS 8. Good luck with that.
Just a bit sad, that so many people today prefer to listen to MP3 files through earplugs and I-pod docks -instead of listening to a good audio system and some decent speakers.

Was there ever a Beocord 3000???I think you mean the 3300

Btw. the later models of the Beocord 7000 had a different tape mechanism -i think it was a cheaper one (maybe from the Ouverture).
My experience is that the BC7000 i once had, didn't sound as good as my BC6500. Maybe it was worn - or out of adjustment.
I sold my (black) Beosystem 7000 a few years ago -which i regret now [:'(] I would surely like to have another system to put up next to my alu/black 6500 system. (I like your 2+2+2+2, Leslie)

And I think one of the best ways to position and display your component stack system is in the 2 + 2 configuration like so....

Instead of the turntable unit (I dont have any records), I have a 2nd CD unit plugged into the PHONO socket, so the system pictured above is a mish-mash of 6500/7000 units (2 of each).

I agree the BL7000 is the best remote, but I do like the wedge design and display read~out on the MCP6500 too

There is no best system.

Of the components:

The best amplifier is the 5000 - unless you have active speakers in which case it is the 7000.

The best CD player is the CD5500 (the CD50 is far too unreliable , and is simply too weird - a single channel DAC!?? - the fact that hardly two are the same design)

The best cassette player is the 5000 - unless you really want auto-reverse.

The best remote is the 7000 - as long as you have a Beomaster 6500 or 7000.

The best record player is the 5000 - best made and best sounding. The tangential ones are more convenient.

Of course the best stacking system really is the Beolab 5000 system of 1967!
