I do intend to use the set on a wall stand so will check to ensure it comes with the blanking cover.

The Beoworld site is acting up. I got no notification of your post, just stumbled across it by accident...

Hi,

What should I look out for when buying a Beocenter 1?

From what I have read there are two DVD types fitted but the model numbers suggest that there were three versions i.e. T851X T852X T853X with X being the country specific number. What is the difference in these version numbers?

Do all UK/EU versions support both PAL I and PAL B/G?

Thanks and Happy Christmas!

Richard

Hi Richard,

Can't help you with the different country types. I bought a 2006 BC1 on eBay and it is still running perfectly. Started off on a video stand, then moved it onto a wall bracket, and finally a slightly shortened pole stand. The pole stand certainly looks elegant although getting all the cables into either the wall bracket or pole stand is a bit of a nightmare. If you are going to use the TV above normal eye height you may want to check that the TV comes with the blanking cover that fits bottom right below the screen to cover the external video inputs etc. The sockets are quite visible in a raised-up TV.

Seem to recall from other forum posts that the DVD drawer can be vulnerable although I'm not sure whether this is because of inherent design issues or simply because the drawer is very vulnerable if messed about with by, for example, a child. I think there were also some posts to the effect that the DVD player could fail but the unit still play CDs so you need to test that DVDs and CDs both play. You'll also need to check option settings : my very first query on the forum was about getting the radio module to function (it had previously been used in a link system....... Which reminds me that there are master and slave versions of the BC1, and also versions with and without the STB control module).
