I have a 6500 (both seem very similar in build), and the quality is very very impressive! Mine has some slight scratch marks, but much less than you would expect for 20 years of use.</p> <p>Same with the BeoLink 1000! As it was, the system doesn&#39;t even have a scratch on it, but what really impressed me was that the CD I was playing cut out.&nbsp; I initially thought I&#39;d messed the amplifier up!&nbsp; I don&#39;t know if that was deliberate but I&#39;d like to think it was a kinetic based protection that cut the signal temporarily?</div><div><br class="khtml-block-placeholder" /></div><div>Anyway, assides from 4 or&nbsp; 5 lost photos (after 1 camera got sadly sprung open) I&#39;m mainly fine. I do have a slight tear on the cloth on mt RL 45&#39;s but it&#39;s tiny. The speaker&#39;s sound is as fine as it was. What is the purpose of this post then? Perhaps to warn people not to store heavy weights above their equpiment? Perhaps to admire the B&amp;O build quality;&nbsp; I&#39;ve experienced no difference, despite a knock that would render other equipment worthless. Either way, I&#39;d like to raise a Friday night toast to the build quality of the BS5500.</div><div style="clear:both;"></div>
