I hope you don't mind me contacting you......

I picked up this thread from some time ago regarding wall brackets for the Beosystem 4500.

Guess I know the answer, but do you have any of these brackets available?

Failing that would you know of any from other sources.

I think the guy's name is Andy and I thought he was a Beoworld member. Lee would probably have his contact details as Lee had some BL4000s "reverted" back to the aluminum/silver finish.

I'm not entirely sure what the process was (the guy was obviously keeping it a secret) Craig but I don't believe it was re-anodising. His process was designed to take coloured anodised aluminium speaker bodies etc... and revert them to silver.

That could be interesting... the problem AIUI is that however good the polishing is, aluminum will oxidise, and with it goes the mirror finish, and the only way to keep aluminium like a mirror is to anodise it. If someone is doing that, then I'd be interested. Of course the panels could be refinished as brushed aluminium ( some B&O' s are brushed finish anyway) but the mirrors are certainly prettier.

If you can find a way of re-finishing the panels then EUREKA! I must have thrown 50 polished panels from 9500/9300's in the skip and I have several which are not perfect but are too good to throw away.

If B&O don't supply these as a new part, you'd think they'd do a refinishing process. We could send them off to an anodisers, but we'd need a fair few of them.....

Yes, still got a few pairs of brackets left. They are EXACT copies of the B&O originals which of course are no longer available.

Thanks for the tip. I will refrain then, but will have to consider what to do about the scratches long-term... if replacement panels aren't available I guess I would have to have all 3 panels refinished together so that they match. It is quite sad to think that the system was apparently flawless until last week,when their teenage daughter moved it... :(
The scratches are quite minor, but of course they still stand out....

Ray this is an absolute stormer of a stereo you're putting together here, I truly love the Beosystem 4500's design and those BL4500's look fabulous (as long as they aren't pink - yeesh!), maybe you could get a cona to compliment them also?

Thanks David, yes I love it, and I am glad others do too! Yes, if the frets ARE pink/purple, I will be replacing the cloth with a nice red, and quite possibly changing the display to red also. A Cona is definitely on the list.... :)
