One problem you will have with an AV7000 is they were sold mostly in the U.S.. Therefore they operate on 110 volts, and I don't think they have a voltage selector. Another problem is that the AV7000 is made for Active speakers apart from the centre channel.

I posted on another thread but did not get an answer, so I'll try again here.

I am hoping to be able to get surround capabilities with my beosystem 7000, using paasive speakers at the front. (Beovox 5000 /2500 cubes)

When you say that the 7000 integrates with the AV7000, are you only talking about the way it looks?

Can someone please help, as I find it a real shame to have to ditch this system so that I can have a basic surround sound system

After researching and questioning on what it would take to get this system up and runnning; im afraid I must sell my equipment. I do not have the fundind necessary for this product. I wanted to thank everyone for their help!

I used to have an AV7000 and used Beolab 8000's for the front, and Beolab 6000's for the rear. I think 4000's would do just fine in the rear, since those channels are not working too hard, unless you use "Stereo 4" when listening to music.

Great, Thanks for all the help, I am on the hunt for some decently priced speakers now. Im watching those beolabs on ebay. Couldnt of figured this out on my own.

CX100's do very well in complimenting my Penta's - don't forget that I have 2 in my set up though. How 1 solitary one would cope I couldn't really say but as a centre it should be OK.

I'm not sure the OP would want to spend as much as Pentas at the front and 8000s at the back. Nonetheless, if he wants to, that's fair enough. My only worry is that the CX100 may struggle to keep up with a pair of Pentas either side. Chris (forum name medogsfat) would be able to tell you though, as I believe he uses a similar setup.

Hi, i've got a similar set up..and thanks to the help here...i can offer a bit of info....The AV7000 powers the center channel...so the CX100 will do fine.... On the back you've got front and back Powerlink (meaning active powered speakers).... SO..

What I did was get a set of Penta's for the front and a set of 8000's for the rear.....Now the AV/7000 also has 2 outputs for Subwoofer....i've learned from this great foro..that they are both mono...and they are RCA...so you can power some "self powered" subs off them as well.....good luck .!!!! and happy BO'ing.....

Yes, you do. There's a pair of BeoLab 4500s on ebay.com right now They will do a fantastic job. Alternatively, the other options include BeoLab 5000, BeoLab 4000, BeoLab 6000, BeoLab 8000, and BeoLab Penta (mk2 and 3). I wouldn't really want to go with BeoLab 1s, 3s, 9s or 5s as I feel they wouldn't match the CX100 as a centre channel very well.

You would also then want a pair of rear speakers. As the AV7000 makes light use of the rear speakers in comparison to true Dolby Digital systems, a pair of BeoLab 4s would work perfectly as rears, and they won't break the bank!

Make sure you don't get any BeoVoxes though, as the only channel they will work on is the centre channel, unless you purchase BeoLab 150/200 amplifiers (which can be very expensive!).

Mike, I do believe you need Active speakers for the AV7000. Someone else maybe able to confirm this.

Thanks for everyone's input. Now I just need to find all of this for a resonable price. Im working right now on getting a BeoMaster 7000 and a Beolink 1000. Any recommendations on the speakers. I already have one Cx100.

Originally it was supplied with a Beosystem 7000 and an MX6000 I believe. Not sure if the Beomaster would need a S.W. upgrade.

The unit would work best with an accompanying BeoMaster 6500 or 7000, and owning a 6500 myself, I strongly advise you get one. They are not expensive, but offer outstandingly good performance and integrate beautifully with the AV7000.

Hi Mike, first of all welcome to Beoworld. from what you say, you have a CX100 as the centre speaker. This will be connected with just standard speaker cable. Not sure which connections are on the AV 7000, the one on the CX100 will just be a standard 2-pin DIN speaker connection. Should be available from somewhere like Radio Shack. What I would recommend is upgrading to Silver or Gold membership. As the manual is on the site, I have just checked. If you go for Gold then you will be entered into the prize draw for the next 12 months. There are some fantastic prizes to be won. Well worth the fee IMO.
