1. Tried HDR1 (STB-C puilt in) - with Nokia Dbox 2.

Very slow

2. Tried HDR2 (STB-C puilt in) - with Nokia Dbox 2.

Very slow

So, got rid of the Nodia Dbox 2 and:

3. Tried a Technisat Digicorder S1 with hardisk built in

Fast enough - works great!!

Another (more expensive) solution would have been to have ULF (hardware-)upgrade my Nokia Dbox 2 with his controller.
Best of both worlds...

But it is TV #4, not used too often, so I can live with the "not so nice" Menu of the Digicorder.

Hi!

We have a new chip and a BV3-32 with stb-c. But where is the chip located. You say it´s not that complicated a job. The bv is dismantled but can´t find the chip

I highly recommend to upgrade to gold membership to get access to service manual for the tv.

The chip is quite well hidden behind the main chassis in a separate stb-controller pcb and yet inside a metal case. After finding the !correct! chip it is not that complicated. And word of warning here - be sure to mount the metal casing top plate in the same orientation as it was. If you wont you will make a short circuit and it could blow the controller!

Re: How to update Beovision 3-28 STB-C List?

The chip is located on the stb-controller. Something your dealer / installer can easily do at home or in shop.

Avant, BV3-32, old MX and BV5 need to have the chip to be changed. Not that complicated job either.

Re: How to update Beovision 3-28 STB-C List?

Keith, there are a few CRT's that are upgradeable with the flash tool. The MX8000 is one of those, and so is the 3-28. However, the 3-32 is not.

Ralph, you cannot do this by your self. Your dealer has the right (hardware) tools to get the job done. Good luck!

Re: How to update Beovision 3-28 STB-C List?

The Beovision 3 STB-C can only be updated with a chip change.

Why there are only two entries, I cannot really understand why except I noted that you say that it uses table 5.27a except there is no version 5.27a as far as I am aware. The latest table version for Central Europe is version 4.29 and the entries are shown below.

So, I can only assume, that either the STB-C chip is faulty or someone has programmed their own chip.

Re: How to update Beovision 3-28 STB-C List?

Keith,

thanks a lot for your help.

That is what I thought.
BUT - can the dealer delete all entries except for two?
AND: I read that the Beovision 3-28 chassis is similar to Beovision 1/MX 8000 chassis.

In the BV1_updateIII_863x_service_onsite-eng.pdf doc I find the following:

So, maybe sw update could work?
(If cable kit is available and software tool is at hand).

Thanks again!

Your Beovision 3-28 has a STB-C and its table of 3rd party STB's is defined by a physical chip installed in the set top box controller.

So, this is NOT upgradeable by using a flash software tool, you have to replace a physical chip.

In recent years the PUC was introduced which IS software upgradeable.

So, when you see B&O documentation which says STB-C you know it uses a hardware chip and when you see PUC you know its software upgradeable.

How to update Beovision 3-28 STB-C List?

After I got a Beovision 3-28 for close to nothing... (everybody seems to want to get rid of the bulky TVs and buy the flat screens) I wanted to set up the STB-C to work with my DBox 2.

But in the List (STB Table 5.27a according to the service menu) there are only 2 entries!

Does that mean, the dealer that set up the tv deleted all the other entries???

If so, how can I update the list myself? I know it is a software update.
What cable is needed? I suppose I will not need to open the TV, should work via the IR connection...
And then use a Flash Tool (where to download?) and cables: 3375397 (cablekit)?

I updated the firmware of lots of Set-Top-Boxes, Routers etc. using ethernet and/or RS232 cables...

Any help is very much appriciated - PMs are welcome, too
