Metal coasters (and glass ones too) are all well and good, but if you put a glass with iced drinks in and they drip condensation, the water causes a vacuum under the glass and when you pick the glass up, the coaster comes with it and then suddenly comes crashing off, really a problem especially for unsuspecting guests. My coffee tables are those clear glass type and when you hear a coaster hit one of those from a foot up, is quite a shock. I've had guests break two glass coasters so have stopped using them.

I have tried metal (aluminium & stainless steel) and glass and they are all as bad as each other! Fine for hot drinks and tall wine glasses, but any iced drink that the condensation drips down onto the coaster causes this. The lighter the coaster the more likely it is to stick and drop off. They need to be really heavy to avoid that and my aluminium ones are the worst. If they have a rough texture on the top, that also stops this happening, but smooth glass, frosted glass, polishes aluminium, turned aluminium etc are not a good idea. I've resorted to using these on the coasters I have.

I have that A7 wine coaster, well, I remember it to have been about 100euro/piece, so I only bought one. Never used it.

I have 9 10 (yes, nine ten, a tad even more excessive now, but some evenings I drink a lot ... oops, I meant, some evemings I have many friends and family visit us ) of the "Beolab 8000" tops except they are not; the B&O coasters are made of steel, and the wear well, as the accumulate scratches and become distinguished and full of character (like me, I don't have wrinkles ... I have experiences )

Put some heating elements in it, then it can used to keep your coffee warm in a Beoworld mug.

This is my own and not for sale. One of our engineers found a use for an old BeoSound3 top plate. The underside has soem cork glued to it.

Any ideas for some good coasters, I have seen people use the tops from lab 8000's.

Does anyone have a pic of these as a coaster?

Do b&o sell a coaster?
