I have made some tests with the Beovision 7 demo unit at the store (still marked as an early sample) using a Hi-8 camcorder connected to the S-Video socket and deinterlacing was excellent. The scan lines were absent on the screen. The test repeated with the composite output of the camera yields similar results. I have repeated the same test on cheap LCD TVs and the scan lines were visible with moving objects and even for static images. Low end LCD TVs perform poorly with analogue material, in the contrary of the Beovision 7.

For this point, the Beosystem 3 excels. I expect that all the tests described in the article should be successfully passed by B&O TVs using it.

Not an issue that I've seen! The Sky HD boxes are 1080i I believe, and if there are any motion artefacts, then I can't see them...

I still think 720p is quite high enough for a display up to 65" if you sit more than 3 m from the display...

Interesting read, though I would say that the scaling examples look more dramatic in effect than what happens on an actual screen.
And the two writers are assuming that bandwidth will be sufficient to provide full bitstream 1080p transmissions - that's not likely to happen. What we will get is bit-starved 1080p, and then we might just as well have full stream 720p. For playback from HD hard media that's not a problem, of course.

Yes, the bandwidth for the BBC's test HD channel (1920x1080) seems to fluctuate anywhere between 16 and 20Mbps.

Think of the bandwidth for serveral of these channels!

Great picture though. More HD programmes would be good.

Dear All:

How is this article relevant to the BV-7? I am not being flippant, just wanting to know how the BV-7 will deal with some of the issues raised? Will the BS3 do the proper scaling to enjoy the best picture posible?

What is the native resolution of the BV-7?
