&lt;p&gt;As far as I know, there is no way to disable the buttons on the remote and no way to enable them.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The setting up&amp;nbsp; functions on the remote merely control what additional functions are present when you press LIST (a quicker ADD/REMOVE function)&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I think you should try to use a different audio config for the beo4. Setting A.Mode or V.Mode configures the device how it responds to IR commands and not the BEO4 which commands it sends:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Standby+List&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;select Config&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;select Audio&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;select Basic.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;It&amp;#39;s worth a try. (BEO4 guide, page 14)&lt;/p&gt;
