Hi all,

All is up and running!!! Thanks for your help and support! It turned out that changing to channel 591 did the trick. Beside that I had to fiddle a bit with the Beo4 to work out how to change (and store!) the frequency on the MX4002. After finding out (the manual is not correct in that) how to store on program 60 it worked like a dream.

Alas the MX4002 doesn't automatically follow the Avant, probably to do with the s/w version.

@DoubleU: correct, I'm on UPC, and I'll give it a try this afternoon. (UPC: internet, telephony, and analog TV all ok, digital tv not so great...)

@Morten: I hope the MX4002 follows the frequency automagically since I have no clue on how to change the higher program numbers.....

@Vienna: Keying in 60 as program number doesn't work, and there's no menu option a la Avant where I can key in the freq and the program number and store the lot..... The manuals say so but the MX doesn't do it. The S/W version is 2.0 and I don't know if that's good or not.

Hi, Bart!

The LINK-frequency will change on the MX - as per magic!!

I have this setup myself with a MX4002 in the bedroom and AVANT in the living room. Just change the LINK-frequency on the AVANT and then start the MX on one of the linked sources (DVD, HDR, cable-box) - there is no need to change anything on the MX. I have done this several times, so I would be very surprised if this shouldn't work in your setup.

Bart, I bet your provider is UPC.

599 as linkfrequency does not work anymore since a couple of years. Change linkfrequency of your Avant to 591 and follow Vienna post. All will be fine now.

I doubt the MX will "follow" automatically to get the appropriate link-frequency

To tune in to the video transmission frequency of the main system:
- Select LINK, TV on the Beo4 (this starts up the system modulator in the main system).
- Tune the BeoVision MX 4002 to the video transmission frequency either by search tuning
or by keying in the numbers directly and store it on P60.

To tune in to the video transmission frequency of a second video tape recorder in the main system:
- Select V.TAPE 2 on the Beo4 (this starts up the modulator in the second video tape recorder).
- Disconnect the Master Link cable from the BeoVision MX 4002.
- Select TV on the Beo4 and tune the BeoVision MX 4002 to the video transmission frequency of the
second video tape recorder and store this new frequency on P61.
- Connect the Master Link cable to the BeoVision MX 4002 again.

Thanks for your answer! Your assumption is correct, there's only one aerial connection between the Avant and the MX. I'll give changing the frequency on the Avant a try. Is the information on the frequency send via Masterlink? I have no clue as how to change the frequencies on the MX so this is most likely the case!

Hello!

The modulator should be off - when using a B&O television, it will go on automatically. If you use a non B&O television, it should be on - that is, it will always send a signal. It doesen't matter in your setup wether it is on or off.

When changing the link frequency on the Avant, the MX will "follow it" automatically. You don't have to do anything on the MX.

If I understand correct, your MX is not connected to any other coax/aerial than the one from the AVANT? If that is so, your problem is strange. However, I would suggest you change the link freqency on the Avant. Try out different frequencies and see if that makes any difference. In my experience, it can make large differences in picture quality due to local interference and disturbances.

Weak video link signal - solved!

Hi all,

I have a pretty standard setup which has a problem in the video quality over the (master)link to the bedroom MX4002. The signal is send from the video master, the Avant. I have a superb quality on the normal television channels on the MX4002, but the signal from the DVD or HDR1 is weak, filles with snow and low sound volume. The masterlink is ok, radio and cd work fine and I can command the HDR1 and DVD fine. Since the normal tv signal is fine a bad cable or connection is ruled out.

The setup is: TV cable -> HDR1 -> Avant -> MX4002. The link frequency is set to 599 on the Avant, as far as I can see this is the case on the MX4002 as well. Unfortunatly the manual of the MX4002 got lost, and the manuals available online describe a different software version (mine is S/W 2.0). I have no clue how to set the link frequency on the MX4002, and I'm not sure to which channel number it actually coupled.

Apart from this all, do I have to swith the modulator on the Avant ON or OFF? The configuration guide says OFF.... which I don't understand.

Anyone a clue?
