Yes, you would remove the ring magnet to replace the cd.

Thanks for the reply an my apologies for not getting back sooner........WORK !!!

The small flat ring magnet you mentioned, did it just sit on top of the CD (I take it that if this was the case, you'd have to remove it and replace it every time you changed the CD).

Just an idea (maybe not too original), but, what about getting hold of an old portable CD player like the Sony Discman and butchering it to take out the CD holding ring and grafting that onto the Beocenter. I've got one here and the CD was held in place by 3 sort of sprung pins[View:http://forum.beoworld.org/themes/beotheme1/utility/:886:737]

These old CD players are available on eBay for about a tenner. Do you think it might work ?

The centre, plastic "widget" is probably starting to break up. They all do, eventually.

Spare parts are no longer available.

AFAIK only one person has succeded in reproducing it. See here

In the meantime I suggest that you look carefully at your plastic "widget" and repair with araldite or similar before you loose the bits which it will inevitably break into.

B&O did once supply a small, flat ring magnet as a solution to the problem but also, alas, no longer available. You could try a local hardware store or the internet.

Beocenter 9000 CD Question

Hi Guys,

Once again I throw myself at your knowledgeable feet.

I put a CD into the drive today and it didn't want to read it. It sounded as though the disk was "slipping" on spin up. I tried to take the disk out, but horror of horrors (to me anyway) the black piece in the middle and the spring it holds in place (to grip the CD) came out as well. I have managed to fiddle it back together but I am concerned for its well being.

My question is "Is there something I can use instead of this sort of "Biro" spring arrangement that is a bit more substantial". When I remove a CD now I am petrified it is going to come apart again, or worse still it will come apart when it's in use and do a bit of damage to something.

If anyone has any info on a sort of mod for this I would be really grateful
