and I don't think the veneer is quite as nice as the earlier speakers.
Internally they are also not quite as well finished. They are very
imposing though!

Re: Car Booty!!

Beautiful speakers - would love to fall into a pair one day and push the M70s into a bedroom.

Re: Car Booty!!

Agree - the speaker selection switches are very stiff and I certainly had issues with one of mine.
The speaker output problem is fairly normal, my Beomaster 8000 #2 does it on speaker 1 Left and speaker 2 right. I suspect it to be dirt which creates a bad connection in the speaker selector switches.

Re: Car Booty!!

Good stuff - Great to hear it works! I should imagine the issue with Left 1 is straightford - Maybe even a bad contact on the switch or muting relay? :)

(pm sent by the way, Beaker)

Re: Car Booty!!

Just to say that I have opened up the Beomaster, given the pot on the right hand side a twiddle and a quick spray with contact cleaner and it now runs lovely and cool. As a bonus all the LED segments now work. Dont know why but I did have to lift the display board to get at the pot. I wont touch it again!!

One remaining issue is that one speaker output does nothing. Its the left 1 output. Obviously the amp works fine as Left 2 works fine. Both right hand side outputs work. Should be something simple I hope.

Adam I will keep you in mind as I doubt I will be allowed to keep the speakers!

Re: Car Booty!!

Blimey, that's a seriously impressive haul - well done that man!

By the way, if you ever want to sell the MS150s (even in their current condition), or even swap them for a pair of slightly smaller and more domestically acceptable M150s, then please drop me a line!

Re: Car Booty!!

Well done! Whilst I was trying to sell some of their possesions my friends wife was wandering around trying to buy things. She returned and said that someone had an old Bang and Olufsen stereo for sale. I thought it would be a "Japanese" Beocenter with a pair of x25's but was astonished to discover a full Beolab 8000 set up. BM8000, BC9000, BG8000 and MS150.2's. All filthy dirty from many years in a shed. After a bit of a haggle (it would be rude not to at a boot sale!) a price was agreed.

On returning home I entered the house with a very pleased look on my face which was soon removed when some one saw what the car now contained. I had never seen MS150's in the flesh before and they are huge! Obviously this lot is not in perfect order. The speakers need refoaming, the Beocord needs belts, the Beomaster gets hot on one side and has a couple of LED segments out and the Beogram needs a tacho disk I expect. The whole lot needs a real good scrub but for what I paid I certainly will not be complaining. Im sure the MMC20CL which sounds fine is worth more than I paid for everything. Certainley worth getting up early on a Sunday for. Except trying to hide these in the dining room didnt work.

I will try to get it all up to sratch over time then work out just what to do with it.
