You have to replace an eprom in the Beogram cd and Beocord i did it in my BG cd6500 about 10 years ago, it cost me about 15 Euro.

The dealer said one was also available for the Beocord but i did not replace that because i didn´t used it very much. I don´t know if it is still available but I can try to find the part. nr.

Er, a software update to which device? I have a complete 7000 system and the remote won't show the cd-track numbers over 14 on the top row display.

Another difference is that BM7000 has 24 preset stations and BM6500 has only 20,

Also when you connect a Beogram cd6500 or Beocord 6500 to your Beomaster7000, tracks above 14 will not be shown on your Beolink 7000 or Beolab Penta

A software update will fix the problem.

Just one more thing, the processor is completely different from BeoMaster 6500. If someone has ever tried to fit a BM7000 processor in a BM6500, they know. Not just the electronics are different, also the two big connectors have changed places.......

Technical differences in 7000:

RDS module
MPX signal from the tuner board to the RDS module
a couple of data lines between the RDS and CPU modules
and obviously a new firmware that knows how to control the RDS module and do something with the data it receives

I believe all this could be retrofitted in a 6500 and nobody would know the difference apart from the number on the front panel. Particularly everything that handles audio is identical between the two.

All the RDS is good for is showing the station name on a Beolink 7000, on the not-so-legible blue display. Nice when initially storing the presets, but not too critical after that, unless you have so many presets that you forget which is which. Other than this, by all means get a 6500 system and save a lot of money - there aren't any real differences in the other components, either.

I have owned both & they are identical except for the lack of RDS in the 6500. All other specifications are exactly the same.

Thanks, I already read that but I did not find interesting informations. It is more a marketing description of the products than a technical differences.

Are the electronics compoment the same, are the 7000 only different because of the RDS??? I was more into a feedback of the products from an expert user point of view. I did not own these system (yet ;) ) but I was afraid that the 7000 was just an "easy" upgrade...

Hi Folks,

I wanted to have informations about the differences between beomaster 6500 & 7000. I read that the only difference is that 7000 have RDS, but on some other sites, it says that the beomaster 7000 is very different...

I am still looking for a nice white setup beosystem, so I wanted all the informations ;)
