- No, the main advantage of a LED edge-light concept (beeing used in BV10s) is the reduced
thickness of the panel assembly compared to a CCFL or a LED direct backlight (beeing
 used in BV 7s)

- Agreed, the picture of a BV10-40 and 7-40 are different because:
"white" from a LED is not exactly the same as "white" delivered by a CCFL -
AND, furthermore, there is a difference in the capabilities to process a picture
between the BeoSystem 3 in a BV7 and the "engine" of the BV10.

beolion:

... every time when I look at the 7-40 in a bit darker room and especially with darker scenes,
then I notice a big difference between the 7-40 and 7-55 ...

A perfect description how local dimming of the 7-55 is working ...

beolion:

... going from 32 to 64 backlight zones, and a lot more diodes...

the BV7/55 in it's MK1 version already has 8*12 = 96 backlight zones with 10 LEDs each segment
the MK2 version is going to have 16*32 = 512 zones with 6 LEDs per segment >> 3012 LEDs.
(more than 5 times as much zones as the current version and amount of the LEDs more than tripled)

The only time I notice the backlight zones is if I look at the TV from the side (which we by the way never do) and if I have i.e. bright white small areas with black background like a flash light in the dark (which is very soldom). Therefore, going from 96 til 512 zones must really do a difference in these cases.
It cant get much more perfect.

Thank for the clarification, much more detailed than my dealer told me. But it is quite a lot of extra zones and LED's added, that must require some additional "performance" within the BS3, I guess this is controlled in the BS3 also?

Could be interesting - if it was possible - to compare the 2 screens.
