I would check the obvious first, are the 8000s plugged into the front speaker sockets?

... assuming you connected the 8000s as described before,
switch to "Standby" then set "A.Opt" to "0" and "V.Opt" to "2"

Then select (& "GO") TV > Menu > Setup > Sound > Speaker Type
and "tell" your TV that "Front Speakers" are BLb 8000s

Store by pressing "GO" and exit.

Indeed - much as I had to tell the thing it had the 8000 speakers connected to it..... but I can't see from the MENU where I can do this. None of the options under SETUP; Tuning, Sound, Picture, Stand, Connections, Menu, Clock, seem to have the prompt to add Beocenter 9000!

What to do? Where to find the prompt?

I think you have to set the DVD Avant's OPTION to be the same as what you had set the VCR Avant's too

I have just upgraded to from a Avant video to a Avant dvd (flatscreen). As before I have plugged in my speakers (8000's) and linked in the BeoSound 9000. When before I would press the buttons under the CDs and one the speakers would come, now, all that happens is the CD plays but there is now sound - the speakers don't turn on..... but the Beolab 2000's in the kitchen play just fine!

What have I not done? What instuction have I not followed? I have the booklets but I can find nothing to help me?
