Dear All:

The thing feels great and it does what it does well. My issues is the carrier; granted, Apple can only strong-armed so many other companies at once.

The future revisions of this product will only get better.

I just bought my second iphone as I discovered that my first didn't seem to like swimmimg in the Atlantic ocean. That said, I love it. As it has been mentioned the exciting thing is seeing the software potential in the interface for future revisions. It's easy to see some things that need to be improved but rest assured those updates will come quick based on the feedback of existing users.

The iphone will change things. Especially if you are already a mac user.

When I replaced my lost phone I simply plugged the new phone in to my laptop at the apple store and within three minutes I had activated with AT&T and created a virtual clone of my old phone including my call logs. Unbelievable integration.

By the way, the sim card pops out of the top by pushing a hidden button with the pin or paper clip... and it is a 3G sim card!

I agree with you.

Meantime, I think like Alex that it is nice too, not to forget all the advantages that Iphone has.

Iphone IMHO is really attractive, and I won't mind about the technical features this phone doesn't' have since I have the design and the user-friendly interface.

I have resisted posting anything on this subject but I will say a few things. My wife and I both have iPhones and really like them. The list above about what the phone doesn't do is not all that important to the average individual. The phone is exceptionally well made with high quality parts from many countries. The amplifier is from a British company and the glass screen is from a German company. The iPhone like most Apple products and other computer products is assembled in China. In fact, all ipods are assembled in China. The Chinese do produce high quality products as well as a lot of junk. I do believe Chinese made cars are already available in the EU and are coming to North America next year.

We could discuss the pros and cons of the iphone forever but the phone does exactly what Apple says it will do. View the online videos of the iPhone at apple.com. Of course there will be changes. The Windows mobile phone software is in its sixth release and it is not too intuitive for the average person.

BTW. I use the Earset 2 with my iPhone and it works well. From what I saw in the Apple store, I think Apple sells more Earset 2's than Bang & Olufsen. This remark makes my posting relevant in a B&O forum

My only dilemma is what to do with my Serene phone.

BTW Iphone will kick the french ground by the end of this year.

Meantime I just saw in the flesh the Nokia N95 and thing is that I like it !

Which phone would you choose ?

The market was waiting for a phone, a phone is what it got. And there are quite a few users who are very happy with theirs. I'm personally pleased that those of us living in Europe will be getting the next iteration.

But - when I used an iPhone, through WLAN, it was blindingly fast - which has me wondering about your connection.

I just sat in a listening room controlling my computer with my phone, while picking tracks for evaluating speakers. It is rumoured that Leopard will enable this function on the iPhone, thus not requiring the 3rd party software -- that, in itself, is enough to make me want one.

You'll have coverflow, from wherever you are in your house, as you are picking music, video and where you want the playback.

Actually I see Apple and B&O as being very similar in many ways. To me it doesn't matter whether a product is aimed at mainstream use, or niche use, it must meet the criteria set by myself before I will use it. The BeoSound 2 and 3 both do, and would still do even if they were aimed at the mainstream market. Same goes for the iPhone.

I can't wait to get my hands on one though.

- The battery is not replacable without returning it to Apple? What about the Beosound 2, Beosound 3 and maybe Beosound 6 & Beo5?
- The amount of money is huge and the memory low? What about the beosounds 2 (when the 128mb SD card was provided in the package) & 6?

I'm not an Apple fan, but when we defend a B&O product with some arguments, I can't understand why if another brand create a product with a similar philosophy, those arguments are not valuable...

Well with respect its totally different B&O is a small niche market operator but apple is a huge by comparison and almost mainstream The i pod being the most successfull consumer electronics product in history- I dont think B&O will ever get that prize!

Regarding the battery issue, with respect you refer to home phones- with a mobile the service life is tougher and the demands placed upon it far greater. I would rather suspect that the design limitations of some B&O products prevent a user replaceable power pack and in any case in light service applications why bother if it lasts for years.

At least with many B&O products they are built to a quality standard in the case of i pod and i phone its chinese quality( not at its best) and a LOT of badge! I made the original posts as all the comments on here made refernce to how great it was- a technolgical marvel- how can they make such technolgy for the money were some of the comments on this forum.

What I suggest many do-- instead of taking your holidays to bermuda go to China and see the real world of electronics production.

Exactly, this is a rather poor product made to a rather poor specification in a chinese factory ( where the quality is known to be so-so- ask me how i know!!) and some have fallen for the usual apple hype. Fact is the touch screen technology needs to move on quite a bit to work properly, and this phone offers BELOW what most oher products out there already have- just watch out for new better products already in the pipline which will show what a proper phone is. Batteries tend not to be that consistent in performance and the diffault rate after a few charges can be quite high- NO user replaceable battery??? NO other brand would survive with that nonsense.

This wasnt meat to be a review. I I forgeot to metion all the battery problems ad the fact you cant change it!

It was merely to put the facts of te PRESENT product so there is a balanced opinion to those that think this phone represents excellent value for money and wonderful technology.

Fact is many products do it better- even with potential software updates. If its all so easily to rectify with software issues why did they make such a hash of it!
