What about a Beovision 5??? Spectacular looking TV even when switched off. Surely SWMBO couldn't baulk at that!!

Personally I'd be looking at brightness, contrast and motion related performance. Try the TV in question with a selection of video material before purchasing if possible. Remember that the panel will have been in the market in Samsung TV's for a while before it was available for sale in the BV7 - fiveish years is a long time in LCD panel development!

Well i have considered it but the wife blew that idea straight out of the water, primarily because i showed her one. I have to agree with her that compared to the grandeur or occasion of the 7, and if it didn't have B&O written on it.......

I saw a new 10-32 the other day and have to say i think it looks fabulous and is although i'm a "bigger is better" person i think its the pick of the bunch. But at £6,000!!!!. I have a 32 inch Samsung upstairs already I'm currently watching films through the PS3 and trying things out in 720p that i have watched in 1080P. Without having 2 identical TVs together i'm struggling to see a difference.

why do not you go for a BV8? Should be in your budget and is a modern set. Very good picture and sound - far better than everything you know from other brands.

Thanks for all the replies. We will be mainly watching Sky HD and only occasionally Blueray. Budget really is £3,000 at the moment so that puts a Mk3 7-40 out of reach.

Depends on what type of source you are going to be watching on it? If it's regular broadcast TV, then it won't matter. If you are planning to watch HD movies through Apple TV it won't matter because they are in 720p.

In Australia, we had HD channels broadcasting but a lot of those have converted to those channels to 'catch up' channels and SD

If you are planning on Blu Ray, then i think you will notice it and regret it.

We have just furnished a house from scratch, so very little is left in the pot. I bought an Avant for the mother in law, and as much as she hates me, EVEN she accepts its an awesome thing. I accept i'm going to buy an older generation of technology TV, but i can tolerate this because of the work i know that has gone into it form B&O.

To be honest, for me its budget dictates! I know I can get a better picture on a mainstream set but i love B&O too much to do that!! I dont think picture on my set is bad but its not as good as the avant it replaced, but it is streets ahead in terms of technology

My advice is go for what you can afford and you can always upgrade later! I think after buying a bv7 the best thing is you can upgrade the monitor and keep your stand and speaker which softens the blow a bit!

Thats what i have heard too hence my interest in the 7-32 Mk3. My problem is that if i went for the 7-40 Mk2 would i then start noticing that it was "only" 720p? We currently use a 40 inch Sharp LED LCD 1080p which isn't bad BUT....

From what I know the mk3 is a far superior set they have better contrast ratio and are brighter, this is from what i have read so this isn't from an owners point if view! I have a mk1 bv7 32 I know that it could benefit of being a bit brighter

I have been looking at a 7-40 Mk2 and a 7-32 Mk3 which both have 720p displays. Having watched a few reviews on Youtube(1 from Denmark!!) does anyone really have any first hand knowledge of which is better? I will be sitting in a large living room about 10-12 feet away. Has anyone compared a 7-40 Mk2 to a Mk3 and noticed a great deal of difference(£3,000's worth). I am now aware the Mk3 has the Beosystem 3 onboard but this isn't something i can foresee using so is not an issue.
