Sorry about the problems you had in finding my site at the start of the month - my internet host (Microsoft) lost all their servers for about 24 hours. Everything was up and running again shortly afterwards.

In terms of connecting the speakers, I would certainly advise using the Pre-outs on the 5500 into the Line inputs of the Beolabs - this method will give audibly clearer sound, as you are not amplifying the sound in the 5500, only to reduce and re-amplify it in the speakers (this is basically what the Speakerlink option is doing).

I can (of course!) help with cabling for all options.

Kind regards,

Steve.

Re: Beomaster 5500 + Beolab 8000

thanks for your information

Re: Beomaster 5500 + Beolab 8000

The easiest way is to switch the Beolabs to line mode and connect them to the "pre amp" connectors on the Beomaster. All you need is a long RCA cable.

If you want the power switching of the Beolabs to work without delays, you need Speakerlink to Powerlink adapters. I believe Sounds Heavenly (whose site seems to be missing from DNS currently for some reason) can provide those.

Neither of these ways is optimal as the power amp of the 5500 is needlessly in the signal path, but it will work.

Re: Beomaster 5500 + Beolab 8000

Not possible I'm afraid. You need a Beomaster with powerlink connections and the Beomaster 5500 hasn't got them. A simllar looking Beomaster 6500 or 7000 has those, so maybe you should look there.

You need a powerlink cable to connect Beolab 8000's to a suitable amp. You find more info on powerlink cables here.

Beomaster 5500 + Beolab 8000

Can the Beolab 8000 be connected to a Beomaster 5500.

Is it a good combination?

What kind of cable do I need?

Many thanks
