I'd say that's the most logical solution.

And yes. .. I'm holding tight. .the Lab 9s are my preference for strictly music (I.E. The Wall, Eva Cassidy, etc.) The 5s are better 'speakers' because they are limitless. . .They can be placed in any environment and dominate. The 9s are more limited. . .but at 3/4 volume. .I prefer the 9s for strictly stereo music.

If I ever purchase any I'll put them in the master bedroom as stereo speakers. .

I say buy them both.

Then you'll never have to ask 'what if?'

They can be compared on a few levels, but I think they're actually quite different characteristically. The BeoLab 9 definitely has a sweeter tonal balance overall, far more coloured than the BeoLab 5, but you could argue much more forgiving and 'musical'. BeoLab 5s are one of the most linear (possibly THE most tonally linear) speakers I have listened to, including studio/mastering monitor systems. The downside is that they can sound really, really bad if you play bad recordings through them!

Re: Beolab 9 v Beolab 8000 2 subs

@ mimedlo,

you have written, you own the 5s as well, but you prefer the 9s from a strictly musical quality standpoint.

I think, you are one of first guys prefering the 9s befor the 5s.

I did not ask my local dealer to lend my the BL5 for a weekend, because I though they are much better than my pair of BL9. And as a little child, I`d like to get everything I want.

Good to know, my BL9 purchase was the right decision, because everybody told me to save the money for the BL9 and buy instead the BL5 in 1-2 years.

Re: Beolab 9 v Beolab 8000 2 subs

Technically I am sort of from Arkansas

I lived there for roughly 9 months and was almost born there!

Re: Beolab 9 v Beolab 8000 + 2 subs

come on now. . .

So I think, I`m able to compare both.

To make a long story short. You can not compare both. More music (BL8000 + 2 BL2) is not "better" music. If the BL9 is 100%, I would rate the BL8000 + BL2 combo not more than 60-65%.
