Out of interest, I bought a BV6-22 new in Nov 2005 and I never had problems with picture (brightness etc). Sources were only Grundig Sky Digital and B&O DVD1. In January 2009, my flatmate bought a 32" Samsung TV all good except very dark picture!!! Some of my DVD's were unwatchable as they were so dark! At least I think Samsung have got the LCD LED screens excellent now!

Would you choose a BV7-40 or 10-32 for an average living room?. I like them both cosmetically but must admit i would love the BL7.2.

For me, the 10-32 is tiny. Looks like a toy TV! If you've used a 40" before, the 32" will look tiny in comparison. A 40" is a good compromise. My TV room isn't large and the 40" doesn't dominate.

Try and find a BV7-40 MKIV "pre-loved" with BV7.2 from LifeStyleAV or MoreThanAV?

Re: Dark picture on Beovision 7-40 mk3

Would you choose a BV7-40 or 10-32 for an average living room?.
That's a PS3 "problem" not a Tv problem, except bad panel of course.

If the picture is too dark, you have to set PS3 on "RGB limited" instead of "full RGB" (picture adjustements).

It was set to RGB limited!

The PS3 comment was an example. The TV was dark. The MKIV is *much* improved. You did note that I mentioned this, above? The same TVs, configured in the same manner, result in different darkness levels.

Certain movies on the MKIII were much darker than they are on the MKIV. Some films, whilst certainly not unwatchable, were too dark in places for my liking.

The reason for bringing up the PS3 example was due to a mate constantly complaining that the MKIII was "too dark" and me defending the picture pretending it was ok. As I said, as soon as I moved to the MKIV, those games were playable, movies brighter and dark levels more even.

One of my mates used to complain about my dark MKIII every time we used the Playstation 3. Some games were unplayable as the scenes were too dark. Nothing B&O could do about that. It's simply the LCD panel and, perhaps, some of the panels chosen (for some MKIIIs) were darker than others?
