Your BS3-box (at the back of your BV9) can not decode Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD master audio. Having a bluray player that can decode these formats makes a world of a difference (especially in a setup with BeoLab 5) - the sound will then be passed on as uncompressed multi-channel PCM to the BeoSystem 3, which will pass this on as an analogue signal via PowerLink to your speakers.

I ended up getting the Sony BDP S370 but noticed on the list only Sony BDP S300 is listed. So will the S370 still work with the PUC?

Re: Blue Ray player with BV9

You can update your BV9 PUC (actually the BeoSystem 3) to handle all listed players (Samsung, Sony BDP etc). Please note that the BV9 mkI is only 720p, so you will not be able to explore the full potential of your 1080p bluray disc. Operating your player through your tv will limit the available commands - any "special" features may require the use of the dedicated remote control.

Thanks very much!

Also, does anyone have experience with the Oppo BDP-93 (or similar) with B&0 TVs? Just found out about it today and seem like a pretty neat device but it has a lot of extra features compared to e.g. Sony BDP-S470 which probably offers all the function I need - whether it actually gives improved video/audio quality considering it will be used with a BV9 (1st generation tho) where the BS3 is meant to improve picture quality of the source?
