&lt;p&gt;The &amp;quot;Sphere&amp;quot; from Elipson is certainly one of the ancestors of the models you show, as they use this shape since the 60&amp;#39;s:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;You will note on the link that&amp;nbsp;BL3s are look-alike from old Elipson models (on a smaller scale).&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Same for Grundig. In my parent&amp;#39;s store in the 70s, we had sphere-shaped Grundig speakers.&lt;/p&gt;
