Hi again!

I'm thinking about taking the contrast screen off the TV to clean the backside of the screen, but I don't know what to clean it with, in order not to damage the anti-reflex coating - Does anyone know what to clean it with?

Ok, the next step would be to check the +150 V (or so) powersupply to the HT trans, if that is ok the transformer itself might be suspicious..

Thanks for the offer, Friedmett, but I only bought the AV 9000 because it was so cheap! Else I would have waited till I could get my parents AV 9000! And I'm not giving up that easy, I love Bang & Olufsen equipment especially from the 90's, so I don't mind messing a bit around with it!

Ipaul, I've just finished switching the focus-unit with a never used one about 10 minutes ago, but the fault is still there... I couldn't get a sharp picture on the TV, no matter which position the potmeter was adjusted to. As I suggested before: I think the fault has something to do with the high voltage. There's something wrong with the powersupply I think.

Ipaul and Llewelyn, I've looked in the servicemanuals for the different TV's (Avant and AV 9000), but the number on my AV 9000 woofer, doesn't match any of the numbers in the Avant servicemanuals, but that doesn't matter, if Lee has a woofer!

Hi Lee,

The red displays in the control center are the same type as the ones in MKIII pentas. There are 4 modules in an AV9000, and 3 per penta display. If you have to scrap another AV9000, then you'd have enough display modules to make a set of Pentas with red displays, if you so desire.

Looks really nice when paired with a Beosound 9000.

I know the tweeters are the same as those found on Avants (oh, and lab 6000/8000, probably others too), so I wouldn't be surprised if this were the case for the bass drivers also!

Hi, if Lee can send you the woofer (which looks a lot like an Avant type anyway...if so i'd have some for you also :) ) maybe he can also send you the board at the back of the tube, with the focus potmeter on it.

Btw i'm assuming you're confident enough with tv-electronics to work on it....:).

Most likely your fuzzy screen is caused by a broken/bad focus-unit, ordering new would be the best of course but a donorpart might do for now...:).

Most likely all other picture (or rather: geometry-) problems are a matter of re-adjusting the geometry in the servine menu.

To get there, there are 2 pins on the Av board (with the scarts) close to the scarts, make a short shortcut and the tv will show the service menu.

With the beolink you can select and adjust values, exit (beo4) or tv to store and exit.

That's okay, and there's no hurry at all, I use my Penta's with the AV 9000, so I don't want you to break it up, if you prefer to keep it in one piece, and I fully understand that, I'm a passionated Bang & Olufsen collecter! It is more ment like, if someone has single a woofer, that's just lying around.

I've just scrapped an AV9000 - it's sat outside in the 'Bin' area at LifeStyle AV. Blown tube.

If you want the woofer, i'll take it out no problem. PM me. You can also have any other bits you need - just let me know!

It really hurts to break up this unit. Maybe Martin Dillen can advise. Martin, help, where are you......
