I think it upgrades the sound processing to a form of Dolby Digital, but don't take that as gospel!!

It was a software update to allow non B&O TV's to be used with the AV7000. Software 1.2 only works with the Beovision MX US version. Updates are likely no longer available. It involved changing the AMX designed source module and the main eprom. You can pick up a used AV7000 on ebay for $500. or less. It is only a composite video switcher so I do not think you would find the picture quality that great today. Also the list of supported products has not been updated in 7 years so you may not even be able to control your sources especially new satellite boxes. The number one part to fail in the unit is the AMX board. Likes to turn the screen off when you change sources or will not turn a screen off at all. It is also only Dolby pro logic surround which is very yesterday. Your better off with four speakers set to stereo.

My suggestion. They make really good boat anchors. Thats about all now.

I had this old unit sitting in the attic for a while. The software version on the unit is 1.2 and type 2346.

Is it worth getting it to upgraded to 2.0?

How much will that cost?

and what am i getting with this potential upgrade.
