Really good two /three channel is better than average 5 channel....a bit of movement round the room is fine, specially for sfx, but its still not as good as a HUGE sounding front L c R set up.....assuming its a choice of one or the other....obvioulsy adding rears to a LL c RR set up would give you the movemnt front to back as well.

"Daisy chain" them as secondary left and right speakers alongside the lab8000's ...you may be pleasantly surprised.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I´m not sure why a "daisy chain" would benefit the sound. Sounds awkward to hear e.g. a door squeaking to the left, also squeaking behind you to the left.

Hi Claes,

I mean use them where they are - if you put them behind you, then certainly you should set them up as rears

But my initial point is the left and right channell can come from
multiple speakers, to give a wide /enhanced soundstage, such as you now
have with the arrival the 8000's ...it may seem counter - intuitive,
but actually not unknown, and not too far removed in principle from the idea behind
the new Sound system in TV's that spreads sound around multiple
speakers.

Had Lab 40000 up where the lab 3 is in the picture..as L&R speakers...... so when we got some lab 6000, initially they went on the floor either side of the TV...with a view to moving the "rears" from the top left & right corners.

Never bothered - it sounds great - the rear channel for films is still OK, strangely - maybe an acoustic trcik like thoose sound-bar , all in one dolby speakers...but, for music, in speaker 4, it sounds great.

There soundstage is massive, and tonally it really suits the folky/acoustic stuff we mainly listen to.
